GREEN RIVER- After a six year battle with cancer, Iva Michaelson Wilske, age 59, passed away Feb. 27, 2015 at her home in Green River, Utah.
She was born in Evanston, Wyoming on July 30, 1955 to Harvey and Norma Michaelson both whom preceded her in death. She was raised alongside her three brothers, Alan, Kenny and Harry and a sister, Sherry.
Iva grew up on the family farm in Fish Haven, Idaho and graduated from school in Montpelier, Idaho. She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and later graduated from BYU in Provo in 1976.
Married Rodney Wilske, Feb. 12, 1982 in the Logan Temple; they were blessed with a wonderful daughter Rachel, and two beloved sons, Stephen and Jonathan.
After signing a teaching contract with Carbon School District, she began teaching second grade at Durrant Elementary. Three years later she was in the U.S. Virgin Islands teaching elementary school. She returned a year later to teach at Huntington Elementary in Emery County. Iva finished her teaching career in Green River, teaching second grade at Book Cliff Elementary. She was a skilled educator influencing many lives for good. Many of her former students considered her their best teacher and some said that she saved their lives. She loved children and always seemed to be able to help them to become their best. Her career spanned more than 30 years and she was respected by her peers and friends alike. Iva was a real asset to the teaching community and will be missed greatly.
Iva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities. She was always willing to serve and cheerful about doing it. We miss you Iva, and we love you dearly.
Funeral service, Tuesday, March 3, 2015, 11 a.m., Green River LDS Ward. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. and at the church in Green River Tuesday one hour prior to service. Graveside service, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 2 p.m., at the Fish Haven Cemetery in Fish Haven, Idaho. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price, Utah where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Iva online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
