The Utah State Park Officer Association has named Larry Johansen as their 2014 Officer of the Year.
Ranger Larry Johansen started his career with Utah state parks as a boating safety ranger on Lake Powell stationed at Bull Frog Marina. Larry loved the patrolling Lake Powell but after two years felt the need to transfer to Huntington/Scofield/Millsite State Parks where in May he was promoted to Assistant Park Manager and given the responsibility of managing Scofield State Park.
Larry is a graduate of Emery High School, College of Eastern Utah and Southern Utah University where he received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He has devoted his life to helping others. Larry has been an Emergency Medical Technician for 25 years serving on the Emery County Ambulance service and is a member of the Emery County Sheriff’s Posse Search and Rescue.
Larry makes his home in Elmo with his wife Celeste and daughters Danielle, Shelby, Tayler and son Shane. He enjoys his horses and animals.
Larry has been selected as the Park Ranger of the Year by the Utah State Parks Officers Association. He was chosen for this honor because of the efforts to improve Utah State Parks and serve and protect the citizens and visitors of Utah.
