Fire managers are managing this fire to meet the objectives of providing for firefighter and public safety, reintroducing fire to the Ponderosa pine ecosystem and to reduce hazardous fuels.
Crews are utilizing the evening and night time conditions when weather is more favorable to help moderate fire behavior and spread. Burning under the late evening and night time conditions is helping minimize impacts to overstory Ponderosa pine trees while also reducing the understory fuels.
