Travis Vaughn Larsen, age 45, passed away on June 23, 2015. Travis and his twin brother, Terry, were born on Jan. 1, 1970 in Price, Utah to Keith Gary and Emma Lee Litster Larsen. He married Jackie Slack on March 9, 1991 in Cedar City, Utah and together they had four wonderful children. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
Travis was an athlete in track and participated in many races such as the Spartan, Ragnar and Triathlons. During his senior year of high school, he was on the first Emery Football team to take state; and Track team where his relay team stills holds the record for the 400 relay. Travis was a musician and attended SUU on a music scholarship, and played the herald trumpet for the Shakespeare festival. He received a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Travis was community oriented and gave a lot of service to others. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in Bishoprics and held many other callings. He served a five year term as a member of the City Council in Huntington, Utah. He was instrumental in the building of a new fire station as well as in the beautification of the city streets in Huntington.
He enjoyed 4 wheeling, hiking, camping, biking and being with his family. He had a great sense of humor. Travis took a lot of pride in his home and work.
Travis is survived by his wife Jackie of Cedar City, Utah. His children; Tasha Ann (Jason) Holmes of Vernal, UT., Brady Vaughn, Kyler Paul and Colton Layne all of Cedar City, Utah. His parents; Gary (Michael) Larsen of Huntington, Utah, Emma Lee Larsen of Castle Dale, Utah and in-laws Layne and Louise Slack of Cedar City, Utah. Grandfather Keith Larsen along with brothers Terry Larsen, Robert (Ann) Larsen and sisters Debbie (Mike) Nielson, and Gay Lee (Jarold) Jeffs; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Ruth Litster and grandmother Joyce Larsen and nephew Skylure Jeffs.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10 am at the Huntington 3rd Ward (215 N Main, Huntington, Utah). Both viewings were held at the Church. One on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 8:30-9:30 am. Interment in the Cedar City Cemetery at 4 pm. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com
