The Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association, in conjunction with the University of Utah’s National Center for Veteran Studies, the American Hitmen, and The Royal Bar, Owned by the band Royal Bliss, present the first annual Ride to Zero.
Over 22 Veterans per day take their own life. Our goal is to make that number ZERO. All proceeds from the event will go to further research and sponsor treatment for veterans through the NCVS.
The National Center for Veteran Studies has the premiere program in the United States for at-risk veterans. With a proven 60 percent reduction in suicide attempts among military personnel who go through the program, it’s the first and only intervention proven to prevent suicidal behavior among military personnel and veterans.
The NCVS is also a national leader in the development and implementation of new methods for detecting and reaching out to at-risk military personnel and veterans who would otherwise be missed by existing prevention efforts.
This event will include a ride to various Veteran Memorials in the Salt Lake Valley as well as a concert at the Royal Bar featuring the American Hitmen.
We will be having auctions and raffles to include a guitar from Royal Bliss and U.S. Flags flown by members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association over fire bases in Afghanistan. All proceeds raised from this event will be donated to the NCVS to support ongoing research focused on refining and improving treatments to prevent suicidal behavior, implementing peer support programs, training and supervising mental health professionals, and helping military personnel and veterans live lives worth living.
The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29. The starting point will be Riverton City Centennial Park (12880 South 2700 West, Riverton, Utah 84065). There will be food and family activities at the park.
The ending point will be the Royal (4760 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117).
Registration will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Centennial Park. Kick stands up at 1 p.m.
Entry is $30 per person and will include lunch from Sean’s BBQ, the ride and the concert/after party admission at the Royal. Register at: http://veterans.utah.edu/forms/ridetozero-registration.php.
