Spartans drop game to Morgan

Last Friday night the Emery High football team hosted region foe Morgan on the Spartan field and the visitors kept the host team at bay throughout the game and went home with a 41-13 victory.
The Spartans had 222 yards of offense in the game while Morgan finished the game with 456 yards. Emery gained 177 yards on the ground with Bryce Dugmore leading the way with 84 yards gained on 10 carries. Dugmore scored both of Emery’s touchdowns, one in the second quarter and the other in the fourth quarter.
Morgan scored once in the first quarter, three more times in the second quarter and their final two scores came in the third quarter.
Chase Jewkes led Emery’s defense with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery while Tristan Tuttle intercepted a Trojan pass. Mitch Richarz blocked an extra point attempt.
The Spartans will be looking to return to the winning side this Friday night with another region contest against the Union Cougars in Roosevelt. Union lost to Juan Diego last Friday night by the score of 35-0.
