Press Release: The Emery County Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to dismiss, without prejudice,the murder and aggravated assault charges against Peter Simon Sharp. Mr. Sharp was charged in the shooting deaths of his parents on October 21, 2009 and has been undergoing evaluations and
treatment at the Utah State Hospital since that time. He was initially found incompetent to stand trial and that status remains unchanged and is reportedly unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. Mr. Sharp will continue to be housed at the Utah State Hospital and should his competency be restored, the charges may be reinstated at that time.
