The two Emery High swim teams hosted Juan Diego Catholic High and Summit Academy High last week in a tri-meet and the Spartans defeated their opponents in this home meet at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale. The Lady Spartans scored 146 points to 96 points for Juan Diego and 12 points for Summit Academy. The Emery boys scored 146 points with Juan Diego scoring 93 points and Summit Academy scoring 13 points.
The Spartan boys won four of the 11 events while the Lady Spartans won just a single event. The Soaring Eagles from Juan Diego won every other event on both sides. Emery won the meet simply because they had more depth. In several events the Spartans took second, third, fourth and fifth and dominated the scoring for that event.
The Emery boy’s relay team of Devin Willson, Keldan Guymon, Daryl Guymon and Dakota Wilson won the 200-yard medley relay race. Daryl Guymon won the 200-yard freestyle with Dakota Wright winning the 200-yard IM and Deegan Minchey winning the 100-yard freestyle.
Sydney Terwilleger won the 100-yard backstroke and was the lone Lady Spartan winner.
Emery will be on the road this week with a meet in Delta and then at Uintah for an Invitational meet. Emery will be back at home next Tuesday, Dec. 8 as they will host the Carbon Dinos.
