Emery boys two wins in Richfield

The Emery High boys’ basketball team now stands 3-0 for the season with a pair of wins last weekend at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield as 16 2-A and 3-A teams converged on the facility to play basketball.
Emery defeated South Sevier on Friday by the score of 69-55 and Spartans followed that up by defeating Waterford 61-47. Emery this week will travel to Union High on Wednesday night and then will play at home against Beaver on Friday night.
Beau Roundy and Koby Butler led the Spartans against the Rams by combining for 37 points in the game with Roundy scoring 19 points and Butler adding 18. Roundy also led the team with 18 rebounds and 2 blocked shots while Butler contributed 11 rebounds and another blocked shot.
Also scoring in this game was Kolton Butler with 9 points, Bowdie Jacobson with 7 points, Bryce Dugmore and Zac Jorgensen with 6 points each and Mitch Richarz with 4 points. Jacobsen added 8 assists and Jorgensen had 2 steals.
Emery won the first quarter 16-14, took the second quarter 17-11 and the third quarter 20-9 before losing the final period 21-16.
Against Waterford, Emery led 12-9 after the first quarter but trailed 23-19 at the half as the potent Emery team could only score 7 points in the second period. Emery won the third period 16-10 to now lead 35-33.
Emery won the game in the final period by outscoring their opponent 26-14 to win the game by 14 points.
Jacobson led the team with 16 points while Roundy and Koby each scored 13 points in this game. Dugmore scored 9 points, Richarz scored 4 points and Jorgensen and Easton Gordon each scored 3 points. Koby had 7 rebounds while Roundy and Richarz each pulled down 6 rebounds. Richarz also had 6 rebounds in the previous game. Koby Butler, Kolton Butler and Jacobson each had 2 steals in the game while Dugmore led the team with 5 assists and Jacobson added 4 assists.
