ORANGEVILLE-Mack Bunderson, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather passed away peacefully on December 26, 2015. Mack was born June 25, 1920 in Emery, Utah to LeRoy and Hessie Lee Bunderson and was a lifelong resident of Emery County. Married Ruth Beck, December 8, 1945 in Richmond, Virginia.
He served a distinguished career during World War II as a highly decorated fighter pilot in the 44th Fighter Squadron in the South Pacific and the 325th Fighter Group in the European Campaigns. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah School of Law. He was elected as Emery County Attorney where he served for 24 years. He dedicated his law practice, both as county attorney and in private practice for many years, to serving Emery County with special devotion to the Emery County Telephone Assoc. and the Special Service District. He helped to create the Emery Water Conservancy District which developed the Joes Valley Project and Huntington North Reservoir. He worked closely with UP&L in planning and development of the local power plants. He served as President of the Southeastern Utah Bar Association, President of the State County Attorneys’ Association and served on the Regional Board of Directors of Zion First National Bank.
Survived by his loving wife Ruth (Becky) of 70 years, sons Lee, Orangeville, Utah., Tracy (Natalie), Price, Utah., Sim (Yolanda), Wellington, Utah., and daughter Alice Ackerman (Don), Golden, Colo; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Alice Truman (Woodrow) of Cedar City, Utah. Preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses; Victor and Catherine (Brownsville, Texas.): Rex and Betty (Emery, Utah.), two sisters and their spouses; Leila Black (LaVar), Huntington, Utah. and Grace Jensen (Clive), Salt Lake City, Utah.
He will be forever cherished and remembered for his love and dedication to his family, his sense of humor, his great skill as a fine horseman, his love for flying and his passion for upholding the law. Good show Dad.
In order to honor his wish, the family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the “Wounded Warriors Project”.
His family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Hanson, Dr. Thayn, the Rocky Mountain Hospice nurses, friends and neighbors for their wonderful care and concern.
