Spartan swimmers finish first at Grand meet

The two Emery High swim teams traveled to Moab and swam against the host team, the Grand County Red Devils, and South Summit High. The two Spartan teams returned home winners as they won this tri-meet. The Lady Spartans scored 214 to 198 for Grand and 86 for South Summit. The boys’ team scored 203 points to 178 for South Summit and 173 for Grand.
Daryl Guymon led the boys with two individual wins and also swam on two winning relay teams. Guymon won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke and swam on the 200-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard relay team. Also swimming on the 200-yard relay team were Devin Willson, Keldan Guymon and Dakota Wright. Swimming on the 400-yard relay team were Willson, Wright and Deegan Minchey.
Also winning for the boys was Zac Fauver as he won the 100-yard freestyle. Fauver also placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished third along with Allen Durrant, Parker Stilson and Travis Fehlberg.
For the Lady Spartans, Madi Allinson won the 500-yard freestyle and Shaylynn Rowley won the 100-yard backstroke. Madi and Shaylynn also swam on the 400-yard relay team that finished second along with Kaitlyn Carter and Erin Oliverson. Madi swam on the 200-yard medley relay team that took home first place along with Carter, Oliverson and Sydney Terwilleger. Allinson also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Also placing for the girls were Rowley, Hannah Morris and Harmony Willson as they finished third, fourth and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle. Carter was second and Terwilleger were second and fourth in the 200-yard IM. BriAnne Bass was third and Skyler Sitterud were third and fifth in the 50-yard free. Makyan Nielson finished second in the 100-yard fly and Abigail Olsen and Chelsea Olsen finished second and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Abigail was also fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and Raegan Sitterud was third in that same race.
Oliverson was fourth in the 500-yard free and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with Sitterud fourth and Bass sixth in that last race. Minchey finished second in the 200-yard IM and second in 500-yard freestyle. Keldan Guymon was third in the 200-yard IM and fourth in the 100-yard fly. Devin Willson was third in the 100-yard fly and second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Travis Fehlberg finished fifth in the 100-yard fly and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke. Dakota Wright was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 500-yard freestyle.
