Emery swim dominates home meet against ALA, Delta, Millard

The two Emery High swim teams dominated their home meet last week against American Leadership Academy, Delta High and Millard High. The ladies scored 186 points while ALA scored 41, Millard scored 16 and Delta scored 9. The Spartan boys scored 178 points to runner-up Delta with 36 points, Millard with 29 points and ALA with 12 points.
The Lady Spartans won ten of the 11 events while the Emery boys’ won seven of their 11 races. The Emery teams are so deep in talent that they also had many swimmers place high in their events. The girls finished second four times, finished third eight times and finished fourth seven times. For the boys’ team, eight swimmers finished second, seven finished third and four finished fourth.
Madi Allinson won two events and swam on two winning relay teams to lead the Emery girls. Madi won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke and swam on the victorious 200-yard medley relay team with Tarryn Parkins, Kaitlyn Carter and Helena Celis and the 400-yard freestyle relay team with Carter, Celis and Erin Oliverson.
Nate Gilbert led the boys team with two individual wins and two relay team wins. Gilbert won the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke and swam on the 200-yard medley relay team with Devin Willson, Daryl Guymon and Garret Stilson. The same foursome also won the 400-yard freestyle relay race.
Also winning for the girls were Erin Oliverson in the 200-yard IM, Carter in the 50-yard freestyle, Hallie LeRoy in the 100-yard butterfly, Parkins in the 500-yard freestyle and Laci Hulse in the 100-yard backstroke. The team of Hulse, Oliverson, Shaylynn Rowley and Parkins also won the 200-yard freestyle relay race.
Also winning for the boys were Deegan Minchey in the 200-yard freestyle and Guymon in the 200-yard IM. The 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Keldan Guymon, Dakota Wright, Zac Fauver and Minchey also won.
The swim teams will go to Carbon on Tuesday and Juan Diego on Thursday.
The Spartans will host the divisionals on Jan. 28 at the Emery County Aquatics Center.
