Letter to the Editor: “Come get dirty with us”

By By

Editor:
It has been years since I have submitted a letter to the editor but recent events and my circumstances require an in your face response.
After carefully reviewing newspaper articles, responses from friends and acquaintances and my personal opinion, the “brand” that the Castle Dale City Council gave their city couldn’t be more spot on.
Nearly every time I have recreated in the county, be it hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding or just getting out and about makes me feel like a shower is in order. Without expressing my disdain with the ignorance that the majority of people have across the country without being very specific or naming names, I can give you a little light on the subject.
Dirty is a matter of opinion. To an attorney, winning at all cost has no bearing on dirt, but behavior and procedure. To some, the belief is that the best liar is the winner. That type of thinking is dirty. To a cowboy, dirt is something that is washed off after a day of work in the field. To a politician, it is what you can bring up about a candidate that you are trying to beat in a race. To bring up nonsense that has no bearing on how someone can do the job is dirty politics.
To a truck driver it may be just what you haul, dump and wash off at the end of the day. To a farmer, dirt is a necessity to grow a crop. So you see “dirty” is simply how you look at the word. Being a dirty cop can be a number of the things that the normal person may never relate to. Omitting pertinent facts in a report, to profile someone based on their looks or race, lying in court, blowing things out of proportion or assuming that someone is a criminal with no basis in fact could make one believe you could be a “dirty” cop.
Dirty minds are a matter of opinion and if you take something as simple as Castle Dale City’s new “brand” Come get dirty with us as a bad thing, maybe you have a dirty mind. Don’t get me wrong, I would never consider being a dirty cop, politician or any person in a powerful position something that should be condoned. Being a thief, liar, cheater, hater or a person that runs their life on hearsay is dirty….period.
Making someone look bad by passing on the gossip that is so prevalent in this county, or outright making up a story or blowing one out of proportion is worse than dirty, it’s what you may ultimately be judged on. Not to mention it is evil.
If you condone evil behavior or think this article is out of line, maybe you need to get a grip on things. Karma is simple. What goes around comes around. If you don’t agree with me, maybe you need to get a grip.
I personally believe this county and the way people do each other is dirty in so many ways, I could fill up the paper with explanations.
If I put your mind in a spin, good. Remember the Golden Rule.
