Emery Town swears in re-elected council members

Emery City held their council meeting for February.
Mayor Mistie Christiansen administered the oath of office to Councilman Patrick Sundstrom and Councilwoman Corinne Dalton. The council approved a two percent increase for garbage collection.
Mayor Mistie Christiansen reported the county is still exploring options for the EMS services and insurance to the EMTs.
The recreation district is having financial difficulties. No monies have come in to support it.
The council will discuss in a future meeting who to appoint to the recreation board.
Councilman Sundstrom said he put out some live traps for cats to help with the stray cats in the area.
Councilwoman Dalton continues to work on the general plan.
She is working on the planning section. The historical committee is working on getting pictures.
The town history book needs to be updated. The last revision was in 1986. We also need volunteers for the historical committee.
Councilwoman Dalton spoke to Jay Mark Humphrey about well water rights. There are options for the city to take concerning the rights. She will speak to Humphrey again and explore all of the options the city has available.
Councilman Varian Allen reported the Ferron water treatment plant is coming together. The special service district building is moving forward. The SSD projects have been cut in half, due to decreased funding.
A sink is cracked in the state rest area. Mayor Christiansen will contact the state and get it fixed. The office needs a new printer. The town will need to upgrade or get a new server.
The town website on emerycounty.com needs to be updated. Someone will contact the county and get the website updated.
The next Emery Council meeting will be held on March 9 at 6 p.m.
