Commission works on Emery County Fair items

The Emery County Commissioners met for their second meeting in April. There was a discussion on the insurance requirements for fair vendors. The fair this year is June 8-11. Fair director Julie Jones said she has talked to two local insurance companies. They offer an event policy which would cover the fair vendors. Signs would need to be put up which state the fair isn’t responsible for any accidents. County Attorney Mike Olsen said this might work for vendors selling pop, water quilts or items like that, but food vendors do need some type of coverage in the event anyone should get sick.
The commission decided they needed further discussion and input and no decisions were made at this time.
The commission approved a contract with Johnny V and the Trouble Train for entertainment at the Emery County Fair. They will perform on Friday night after the rodeo at the rodeo dance and on Saturday night after the rodeo. The Saturday night rodeo will begin at 5 p.m.
They also approved a contract with Mill Street Entertainment for entertainment at the Emery County Fair. This is Charley Jenkins company and the band will be No Limits. They have performed at Heritage Days. They are a high-energy band and will be performing at the Fair Free concert after the rodeo on Saturday night.
The commission discussed the advertising bids for the Emery County Fair from Castle Country Radio, ETV10, Emery County Progress, and KUSA. These were approved with the exception of ETV10 which needs to be renegotiated.
The commission approved the Memorandum of understanding between Emery County Emergency Medical Services and the United States Department of Energy for providing emergency medical services to DOE, its contractor personnel or its guests at the Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project site.
The commission discussed the recommendation from the Travel Bureau on the Event Planner. They put forth the name Holly Jorgensen to work out a contract.
The commission approved the Cooperative Management Agreement between Emery County, US Department of the Interior, and State of Utah for preparation of an environmental assessment for The San Rafael Swell Special Recreation Management Area and Temple Mountain Recreation Management Zone.
The commission approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of the Interior, BLM Price and Richfield Field Offices, and Emery County as a cooperating agency for preparing a Resource Management Plan amendment and Environmental Assessment for the development of the San Rafael Desert Master Leasing Plan.
The board discussed the recommendation from the Emery County Care Rehabilitation Center Board of Directors for the county to explore the possibility of selling the facility. No action was taken.
The commission approved the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between Emery County and the State of Utah through Department of Adult Probation and Parole for Emery County Drug Task Force. This is the standard agreement with AP & P for the funding to buy drugs, training and equipment.
The commission approved the Level 3 Conditional Use Permit for Bronco Mining.
The board approved the FY2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant application.
A contract with Roger Brooks International for consulting work in regard to tourism was approved.
The board approved a Distribution of Service Agreement with Certified Folder Display Service, Inc.
The board ratified the hiring of Melany Weaver as a Paralegal/Office Manager in the Attorney’s Office. The board promoted Cheryl Cox to Senior Justice Court Clerk. Suzanne Anderson was approved as a volunteer in Archives.
