On Thursday Emery played Grand High in Castle Dale and when the rains finally hit the school Emery was leading the region leader by the score of 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning. The game was continued on May 2. The Lady Spartans will play at Carbon on Tuesday and at North Sevier on Thursday before closing out their season at Piute on May 9.
As for the Emery High baseball team, Emery defeated Monticello on Tuesday at Monticello by the score of 10-0 and then the Spartans defeated Monticello in Castle Dale on Thursday by the score of 8-0 and then the Spartans lost a heartbreaker in Castle Dale to Grand High by the score of 8-7.
The Emery boys will travel to Grand High in Moab for a game against San Juan High to decide the fourth and final slot from the region in the 2-A state play-offs that begin this Friday and Saturday at the homes of the four region champions.
The play-in game will start at 3:30 pm. A win there would keep the Spartans playing at South Sevier on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
