CARBONVILLE-Our loving father and grandfather, Merrill Allen Jones, age 86, left this world on his father’s birthday, June 2, 2016 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 21, 1929 in National, Utah to Allen Clegg and Velda Afton Peterson Jones.
Married Betty K. Milano on April 5, 1949 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. She passed away Aug. 7, 2007.
Merrill was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he worked in the coal industry his entire life. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. Dad was an avid fisherman, gardener who had a great appreciation for the outdoors. He will be sorely missed at the farmers market. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Symbii Hospice, Rick Stockburger and Dr. Glenn T. Etzel and the caring staff of Mitchell Mortuary.
Survived by his children, Marilyn (Arch) Allred, Cleveland, Rick (Lenore) Jones, Alpine, Ariz., Pat Lemmon (Ginger-deceased), Price, Shelly (Barrett) Lemmon, Cleveland, Dana (Scott) Young, Price; 16 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Wally Llewelyn and Lee (Betty) Milano, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Nat Brackus, Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his loving wife; parents; daughter, Ginger Lemmon; grandson, Glen Lemmon; great granddaughter, Audrey Eastman; sisters, Bonnie, Beverly and Shirley.
Funeral service was held, Saturday, June 4, 2016, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family received friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Merrill online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
