Marjorie Ungerman Nielson returned to our loving Heavenly Father on Sept. 23, 2016. She was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Huntington to Adelia Ann Cook and Leon Edward Ungerman. She learned responsibility and love for family at a very young age when her mother became very ill and she began caring for her two younger brothers. Family was everything to her. She spent hours gathering histories and genealogy for her family. She was extremely accomplished in everything she did. She taught herself to sew, cook and quilt; among many other talents. She made quilts and afghans for each one of her grandchildren.
She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and shared it with everyone. She served faithfully in many positions including Primary President, Relief Society President, scout leader and many other callings.
She married John C. Nielson on Oct. 31, 1946 in Huntington, Utah. They were later sealed on Sept. 12, 1950 in the Manti Temple. They were married for almost 52 years. They enjoyed celebrating a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary together.
John was the love of her life. She supported him in everything he did. She helped in the early years of Nielson Construction and farming, including driving truck and always providing meals and lunches for all who worked. It was not uncommon for her to feed extra people in her home. She was a big part of John’s success which was amazing considering Dad was a constant teaser.
She enjoyed the last few years of her life at Heirloom Inn in Price. She loved it there and soon made friends with everyone there. She loved having licorice and candy on hand for the aides. She often commented about her love for her caregivers and how hard they worked. She always showed appreciation to those who helped her. She had a smile and thank-you to all! She is now rejoicing and having a long awaited reunion with her husband, daughter Carolyn and son Ralph. She is free from pain and worldly cares. She is at peace. We will be forever thankful for her example and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed.
We wish to thank those at Heirloom Inn, Parkdale, Doctors and Nurses at Castleview Hospital and Dr. Potter who were so kind and loving in their care for her. She leaves behind a great legacy. She is survived by Tom (Loyette) Holdaway son-in-law, Boyd (Mary Ellen) Nielson, Connie (Scott) Roundy, Wayne (Teresa) Nielson and Diane (Kent) Procarione all of Huntington. 27 Grandchildren, 61 Great Grandchildren and a brother Dale (Rose) Ungerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Ungerman, husband John C. Nielson, Daughter Carolyn Holdaway, son Ralph J. Nielson, son-in-law Wade Hansen, grandson James Dell Nielson, great granddaughters Kaitlyn Hansen and Adalyn Faith Roundy. Hers was a life of faith, loyalty, sacrifice and service.
Friends may call for a visitation at the Huntington Stake Center on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center with a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery. Funeral services are entrusted to Fausett Mortuary of Emery County.
