"Emery County Business Chamber President Jared Black gives Melissa Allred a welcome plaque on her opening day of business."

Melissa Allred has started a new business in Huntington. It’s called A ReClaimed Mess. Mess is also a nickname for Melissa.
Her business will take outdated items and bring them back to life. It might look like something that needs to be thrown out, but wait a minute! It could be repurposed and have new life.
Allred thanks all the people who have been so supportive as she has started this adventure. She’s had a lot of help getting the business ready to open.
The business is located in Huntington at 200 West and 360 South. If you’ve been around Huntington for awhile you will remember the building to be the former Dale’s Repair Shop.
After the Lefflers passed away Gary Arrington purchased the building and the home which has been used as a rental. When Melissa needed a building Arrington thought this would be a good place for Melissa’s business. He just happens to be Pop; Melissa’s father.
So it’s now a reality, this charming store is ready for business. Melissa hosted an open house on Nov. 30 and the Emery County Business Chamber came by with the ribbon and giant scissors to officially welcome the new business into the Emery County Business community.
There were more than 100 people who stopped by on this opening day, and they weren’t just looking, they started buying the merchandise, Allred had prepared for the store.
She not only wants to sell items to locals, but will deliver items anywhere around the state. The family travels a lot for rodeo trips and she’ll take an item someone has ordered along and drop it off to them.
She’s getting the word out about her business on Facebook and will soon be on Instagram. She will take orders and make speciality items to fit your needs. If you have an item you would like refinished and repurposed, Allred can help make that item what you envisioned it to be.
In the future she is also looking at a consignment store. “We have so many talented people in our area and I would like to show off their work as well. What I do, may not appeal to everyone, but in the future I’d like to have something for everyone. It’s been my dream to do this and open this store. A couple of years ago I started doing furniture for myself. Taking older furniture and restoring it. When I moved into my new house, I also had a lot of ideas. I took a door and made it look old. I have reupholstered some chairs, nothing complicated, just simple. I paint chairs and make them vintage and distressed. We have shelves, beds, unique headboards, home furnishings and decor. It’s always changing.
“I learned to do this by trial and error. The projects don’t always work out, but then you can just repaint them. I’ve used ideas off of Pintrest. I’m not afraid to try anything and new things even with other people’s stuff. I just tell them it might not work out. I want to keep the store new and fresh with ever changing items. I am just tickled with the support I’ve received. We pick up our items at yard sales and everywhere. My mom lives in Springville and I’m always sending her out to pick something up,” said Allred.
Store hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-2. On Wednesdays hours are 10-5. If you need something on the weekend, don’t be afraid to call. You can reach Melissa Allred by calling 749-2478. Find her on Facebook at A ReClaimed Mess.
