Idona H Ward Mathis

Our beautiful Mother and Grandmother, Idona H Ward Mathis passed away peacefully April, 22, 2017 in Springville, Utah. She was born Sept. 7, 1930 in Wales, Utah to Lula Mae Howard and Aubrey Delbert Ward, her stepfather was Ernell Allred.
She grew up in Spring Canyon, Utah. Idona had a special relationship with her Grandma Dyches, who was a great influence in her life.
Idona married John Arnold Mathis, Jr. on Nov. 18, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they raised seven children. She was blessed with many talents that she passed onto her children, instilling in them a strong work ethic. She and Arnold valued keeping a beautiful home and yard.
Idona was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in several callings. She patiently supported Arnold while he served in several callings, including Stake Missionary and Bishop. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, playing games and spending time with friends and family.
Idona is survived by her children, Susan Madsen, Sandy; Gary (Terrie) Mathis, Layton; Marilyn (John) Kerekes, Orem; Linda (Gary) Dinkelman, Springville; Gordon (Julie) Mathis, Spanish Fork; Craig (Becca) Mathis, American Fork; Son in Law, Brent Atwood, Cedar City. 35 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her Husband, daughter Sheree Atwood, parents, two brothers, one sister and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Price LDS 11th Ward Chapel (300 W 500 S, Price). A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the Care of Fausett Mortuary.
