Ruth Stevens

FERRON, UTAH – Ruth Marie Barker Stevens, age 79, was born on Aug. 24, 1938 in Hardesty, Oklahoma, to Lee Roy Barker and Ruth Maddux Barker.
She married Robert Francis Gilpin on Sept. 4, 1955 in Lewis, Colorado, later divorced on Oct. 4, 1976. She then met her true sweetheart Darrell Dean Stevens and married him Aug. 31, 1978. She moved around a lot in her first marriage living in Colorado, Arizona, Kansas, Arkansas and Utah. Because she was raised right after The Depression, her family moved to wherever the job was. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a primary president, teacher and many other callings. She loved gardening, quilting, crafts, genealogy, animals and most of all her family.
She is survived by her siblings, James (Debbie) Barker of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bob (Karen) Barker of Sterling, Kansas, Ann (Don) Cikanek of Ellsworth, Kansas, Mary Lou (Jerlie) Guilliam of Atkins, Arkansas, Clarence Barker of Colorado Springs, Colorado and David Wesley Barker; children Lewis (Shelly) Gilpin of Orangeville, Utah, Doris (Bob) Price of Ferron, Utah, Evelyn (Tom) Cooley of Witchita, Kansas, Janice Timmons of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kathryn (Don) Conover of Ferron,Utah;15 living grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father Lee Roy Barker, mother Ruth Maddux Barker, brother Everett Dale Barker and infant un-named sister and grandchild Christopher Daniel Cooley.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah. No viewing as per request of Ruth Marie Barker Stevens. There will be time to visit at 10:30 until 11 a.m. Interment will be in Ferron Cemetery. Services are in care of Fausett Mortuary.
