What should be done with the Huntington Flour Mill?
We live across the street from the old Huntington Flour Mill. There’s been talk about it being restored and turned into something else which would be fine but it’s been as far as I know 10 years and nothing has been done. They’ve fundraised to get a new roof but nothing has been done there as well. I’m concerned it’s a safety hazard as kids try and go inside a lot and nothing is secure. You can walk underneath the rickety platform in the front and the silos are open. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Photographers use the mill all the time and I don’t want anyone getting hurt. If the owners aren’t going to do anything with it because of money then it should be torn down. I’ve heard it would cost millions to repair. Where do they expect to come up with this money? Taxes? I think the city should move to condemn it as a first step in removal. There is a poll on my facebook page to ask opinions as to what should be done with the flour mill.
