Emery boys basketball gets a win over Cowboys

The Emery High boys’ basketball team closed out their pre-holiday schedule with a road victory at Grantsville High School last Wednesday night. The Spartans defeated the Cowboys by the score of 76-67 as three Spartans ended up scoring in double figures for the game.
Tyler Butler ended the game as the leading scorer with 25 points followed by Cade Brazier with 20 points and Kyson Stilson with 13 points.
Butler and Brazier are two of the best three-point shooters in the state as they had made 27 and 23 shots respectively in the previous seven games and that shooting continued in this game as Brazier made five of seven three-point shots and Butler made four of 11.
As a team the Spartans shot 46 percent from the field in the game and 57 percent inside the three-point line.
The team still needs to work on free throws as they connected on just 14 of 23 attempts in the game.
Emery led 18-13 after the first quarter of play and 34-29 at the half as both teams scored 16 points in the second quarter. Emery opened up the lead in the third quarter as they won the period 24-14 and led at the end of the quarter 58-43.  Grantsville won the final quarter 24-18.
Butler scored 25 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and had a steal. Brazier scored 20 points, had 8 rebounds and an assist.
