Legislative update by Rep. Carl Albrecht: representing Emery County in the legislature

Over two hundred students from Pahvant Elementary’s fifth grade in Richfield came to visit Rep. Carl Albrecht at the legislature.  They met with both Representative Albrecht and Senator Okerlund.  They toured the capitol and were recognized in the gallery of both the House and Senate Chambers. 
Legislative Update
H.B. 23 Office of Economic Development Amendments
On Tuesday of this week, House Bill 23 was presented in the Senate Economic Development and Workforce Services Committee – which passed unanimously with a minor amendment.  This Bill is now in the Senate to be heard and is Co-Sponsored by Senator Okerlund.  On Friday it passed the first vote in the Senate
H.B. 33 Energy Producer States Agreement Amendments
This Bill passed from House Committee, and is now awaiting vote on the House floor.  It should be heard on Friday
H.B. 89 Health Facility Licensing Amendments
This bill was presented on the House floor on Tuesday and passed to the Senate.  It will be heard in a Senate Committee on Friday.
H.B. 188 – Regulation of Out-of-State Distribution Electrical Cooperative Amendments
Last Wednesday this bill passed House Public Utilities Committee, and it is expected to be heard on the floor of the House this Friday.
H.J.R. 002 Joint Resolution Urging Congress to Relocate Federal Land Management Agency Headquarters
This bill passed favorably out of the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Standing Committee and is on the House floor calendar for hearing.

Budget
The Utah’s legislature creates a balanced budget within 33 working days.  Representative Albrecht serves on the Natural Resource, Agriculture, and Environment Appropriations Committee, and listens to different organizations requesting funding in that area.  This Committee will be approved and passed to the Executive Appropriations Committee.
What Else?
    Representative Albrecht serves on the Clean Air Review Advisory Council, which met this week to screen Clean Air bills, so that the legislature gets those bills that have a ‘bang for the buck.’
    He has also been meeting with different organizations doing research that may affect District 70.  One of these programs is Coal to Carbon.  Making carbon fiber from coal pitch.  More on this in the future.
    On Friday Representative Albrecht took some time to speak at the Rural Day on the Hill.
    On Friday he also presented bills in Senate and House Committees.
