The Emery High Lady Spartan softball team is now in the midst of their region 15 season.  After winning five and losing three in the preseason, the Spartans are now ready to play in an extremely tough region.  Emery defeated Bonneville, Idaho 14-4, Viewmont 7-6, Morgan 11-1 and El Dorado of Las Vegas 20-2 in a St George tournament and lost just a single game there to Hurricane by the score of 9-4.
Emery has defeated Grand in region play by the score of 17-15 and last week Emery played South Sevier at both Monroe and Castle Dale and split those games. Emery lost on Tuesday at South Sevier by the score of 10-0, but the Lady Spartans came back on Friday and defeated the Lady Rams 22-12 at home.  This week Emery will play at San Juan on Tuesday and then will play at home against San Juan on Friday.
In the loss at South Sevier, Emery could manage to pick up just two base hits in that contest while South Sevier had 12 base hits. Emery also had just a single base on ball issued to them by the Ram pitching staff. Raegan Rasmussen and AdriAnne Childs had the two hits. Carlie Robinson also got on base after being hit by a pitch.
On Friday it was a complete turnaround as the Rams scored two runs in both the first and second innings while Emery responded with one run in the first and two runs in the second inning and the Spartans took the lead as they scored three runs in the third inning while holding the Rams scoreless.  South Sevier scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning but Emery responded with 16 runs in the bottom of that inning.
South Sevier scored four times in the top of the fifth inning but the game was then called due to the mercy rule.
For the game for Emery, Megan Dawes had a double and a homerun, Bailey Huggard hit a triple and Addy Healy, Rasmussen, Robinson and Bralin Wilde each hit homeruns, Wilde’s being a grand slam.  Emery had a total of 20 base hits in this game with 13 being singles.  Those single were hit by Healy with two, Madisyn Alton with three, Morgann Donaldson with one, Huggard with one, Robinson with two, Rasmussen with one, Wilde with one and Dawes with one.
