The Millsite Fishing Derby became a reality after a couple of postponements due to lack of ice. So it became an ice off fishing tournament. Millsite Reservoir still has a 16 fish limit.
Fishing was good March 17 as almost every fisherman caught fish. Some of the fish were longer than others, so they became the winners of the event. All fisherman were given a hoodie for entering. There was also a raffle drawing for prizes. Everyone who participated was entered into the drawing. There were cash prizes and several tool sets, a heater, and much more.
Amanda Leonard the Emery County Events coordinator organized the fishing derby. Jonathan Hunt, the park manager for Millsite State Park helped with the event. He said Millsite Park will open on April 25 for camping.
