Longtime educator of Carbon County, Jaqualyn (Jackie) Birch Thayne, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home after battling a long illness.

She was born in Columbia, Utah on March 1, 1932 to John Leon and Rachel Bentley Birch.  Married David Evan Thayne, July of 1950 and they were blessed with two children, Brent and Madaline.  He preceded her in death on August 5, 1991.

Jaqualyn was a longtime resident of the area where she loved being an educator for 28 years at Wellington Elementary.  She had a special love for her students and often referred to them as her children forever.  She was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.  Jackie will be missed by many and cherished in our hearts forever.

Survived by her son, Brent Evan (Wanda) Thayne, Detroit, MI; daughter, Madaline Thayne Hussey (Mark McMillian), Price; granddaughter, Jennifer Brown (Jeff) of California; three great-grandchildren, Evan, Elliot and Novaleigh.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, the late David Evan Thayne; her siblings, a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and companion of many years, Floyd Brotherson.

Memorial service, Wednesday, September 19, 2018, 10:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Jackie online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
