The Emergency Preparedness and Health fair will be held on Sept. 23 from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Some of things you can see, learn or participate in are eye exams, DNA, finger printing, on hand training, what to do and what not to do, gas, light, water, Haz Mat and the Red Cross. There will be door prizes raffled and a surprise at noon. The Lions Club will be doing hamburgers and hot dogs.
Free cancer screenings for breast, prostate and skin will be at the Emery Medical Center from 8- 11 a.m. For an appointment for the screenings call 381-2305. For interested vendors or participants call Judy Lang at 749-0777 or 687-5349.

Are You Ready?
Americans have been charged to be prepared for possible man-made disasters as well as natural ones. The State of Utah is accepting that charge and turning it into action with the “Be Ready Utah” emergency preparedness campaign for individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities.
Earlier this year, Lt. Governor Gary R. Herbert launched the campaign at the midyear convention for the Utah League of Cities and Towns in St. George to provide the opportunity for every local mayor to be informed and trained to lead the way in disaster preparedness so that when disaster strikes, their community would be prepared to respond.
The “Be Ready Utah” campaign is led by the Utah Commission on Volunteers, the Utah Division of Public Safety, the Utah Emergency Management Association and the Utah State Office of Education, along with schools, churches and businesses.
The real goal though, is that at some point, every individual in the State of Utah will actually step up to the plate and:
1- Be informed.
2- Make a plan.
3- Make a kit.
4- Volunteer.
“As we’ve seen in every situation our state has experienced, whether it’s houses falling into the river in St George or helping Katrina evacuees from the Gulf,” states Kathy Hyde, COV Executive Director, “the most reliable plan for success is for each of us to take personal responsibility to be prepared. Then we will Be Ready.”
