Merle Christensen Bishop Bryner
HELPER- Our loving mother Merle Bryner passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2006, at Castleview Hospital surrounded by her family, at the age of 82.
Mom was born on March 15, 1924, in Castle Dale, Utah, to Royal and Lizzie Christensen. She was one of four children. She attended school in the Carbon County School District and when World War II escalated, she served her country in the Women’s Army Corps. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom married George Bryner on Sept. 23, 1957, and moved her four daughters to the farm in Helper. Living on the farm, Merle was the original multi-tasker. She was not happy unless she had the washer and dryer going, bread in the oven, soup on the stove and the vacuum buzzing. As the daughters left home, mom and dad spent months traveling in their motor home. Although she loved traveling, she was most at peace in her home. Her family came first regardless of personal sacrifices, which were many.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Royal and Elizabeth Christensen, her infant son and loving husband George. She is survived by daughters Linda Olsen of Murray, Gwen (Ken) Callahan of Price, Carol (Lyle) Jones of Price and Karen (Floyd) Swasey of Spring City. Grandma leaves nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who all call her grandma great. She is also survived by sisters Betty (Verl) Huff of Helper, Joy (Angelo) Bera of Helper and brother Roland (Roma) Christensen of Orem.
Funeral services were held Mon., Sept. 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. A viewing was held one hour prior to services. Burial in the Price City Cemetery.
We would like to express our deepest love and appreciation to our sister Carol for the years of loving care of our Mom and Dad. Thanks also is given to Dr. Sterling Potter and all of her caregivers at Parkdale and Heirloom Inn.
