Teacher Achievement Award


Nominate your favorite teacher for an Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award. Fund Pools Reopened

December Safety


The Southeastern Utah District Health Department tips for this season are; mistletoe and holly berries can be poisonous if swallowed, old tinsel may contain lead, lamp oils are colorful and attractive to children, but extremely hazardous, keep them out of reach. Also to remember winter brings the cold and flu season, and that means there may be more medicines in your home. Keep all medicines in a locked cupboard, out of reach. There is no such thing as a childproof container and always keep medicine in its original container.

Baseball Camp

Shuttle Service for Veterans


Donations would be greatly appreicated to help in purchasing a new minivan to transport disabled veterans to the Salt Lake Medical Center. All donations are tax deductible under the DAV Tax ID 8761512361. Orangeville Dog Licenses


Orangeville dog licenses are due for 2007. The cost is $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $25 for non-altered dogs. Please bring in current rabies information when licensing your dog. All dogs must be registered by March 1. Rabies clinics will be held Jan. 6 and Feb. 10 at the old fire station from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Any question call the city hall 748-2651.

Women’s Volleyball

Cleveland Angel Tree


Cleveland town will sponsor an angel tree again. If you would like to help by picking an angel from the tree and provide a gift for them, please call or stop by the town hall during business hours, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Gifts need to be returned to the town office by Dec. 22.

Cleveland Christmas

A Candlelight worship service will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel at 500 South Main Street in Huntington on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.

Veterans, Widows and Dependants


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars from the Salt Lake office will be at the Price Workforce Service Center, 475 West Price River Drive on Dec. 21 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to help understand or apply for your rightful VA benefits.

Forgotten Patient Christmas


The forgotten patient Christmas project is underway. This project helps thousands of Utah’s mentally ill enjoy Christmas. Individuals or groups can sponsor a patient, or can send donations of cash or generic items such as socks, underwear, deodorant, lotion, candy, etc. Feel the spirit of giving and sponsor a forgotten patient. American Legion Fundraiser Raffle


The American Legion Post 73 is sponsoring two raffles to raise funds to help needy military families. Local Veterans Employment Representative


A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues. LDS 12-step meeting is every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Delta Seminary. Everyone is welcome.

Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

Operation Home Support

Project ChildSafe

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels


All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
