Desert Edge Bake Sale
Desert Edge Christian Church will hold a bake sale on Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m. and Oct. 28 from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. New items for Christmas giving and many bake sale items.

Huntington Elementary will have their costume walk on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
Cottonwood Halloween
Cottonwood Elementary will be having their Halloween Carnival on Oct. 31 at the school Trunk-or-Treat will be at 5:30 p.m. and carnival at 6-8 p.m.
Ferron Halloween
Ferron Elementary Halloween Carnival will be on Oct. 28 from 4-7 p.m. at the elementary.
Cleveland Halloween
Cleveland Elementary will be having there Halloween Carnival on Oct. 31 at the school. Trunk-or-Treat will be at 5:30-6 p.m. and carnival at 6-8 p.m.
Festive Friday
Festive Friday from USU Extension will continue on Oct. 27. Our guest is Emery County’s own “Flylady” with hints and tips for cleaning and preparing for the holidays. Join us as we learn to keep down the clutter and have happy holiday homes. Class cost is $2 and will be held at the Old Emery County Courthouse in the small conference room at noon. Historical Society
For November the historical society will sponsor a special Veterans Day program at the museum on Nov. 8 from 4-6 p.m. It will feature an exhibit of cars painted in memory of a soldier killed in Afghanistan. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lehmiller will then speak at 6:30 p.m.
Emery County Headstart
Rural Utah Child Development “Head Start” would like to announce an open house on Nov. 6, from 1-3 p.m., located at 685 North 400 East, Huntington. Light refreshments will be served.
Attention Hunters
Elmo Daughter of the Utah Pioneers’ annual breakfast/lunch will be held, Nov. 4 at the Elmo DUP building, 55 South 100 East. Breakfast will be from 8-10 a.m. and lunch will be from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Drawing for a queen size tricot quilt (pheasant design) and other items will be held at 3 p.m. Need not be present to win.
Essay and Creative Story Contest
The Farm Bureau Essay and Creative Story Contest will be held on the “Riches from the Soil”. Entries need to be 1,000 words or less and should deal with Utah’s agricultural industry and they may be illustrated. Entries will be accepted from age kindergarten and up. Entries may be submitted to Joy Humphrey at P.O. Box 18 in Orangeville or delivered to her at Huntington Elementary.

Meet the Candidates Night will be held on Oct. 25 at the Ferron City Hall at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcomed to attend and is sponsored by the American Legion.

Meet your Democratic Candidates night. Everyone is welcome. They will be held at Huntington City Hall on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.; Ferron City Hall on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., for all candidates; Cleveland City Hall on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
Veteran’s Day Concert

TRUTH Campaign
The 2007 TRUTH from Youth Anti-tabacco advertising contest is giving fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to become a big-time producer. Emery County Veterans
If you would like to participate in this year’s Veterans Day assembly at San Rafael Junior High School on Nov. 10, please call the school secretary at 384-2335 before Oct. 27. Your participation would help our students remember and pay tribute to all veterans.
American Legion Fundraiser Raffle
The American Legion Post 73 is sponsoring two raffles to raise funds to help needy military families. Tickets can be purchased at Jones Ace Hardware, Desertview Federal Credit Union, Maverik in Huntington and Castle Dale, BK’s Stop and Shop, Wards 4X4, Hart’s, and Magnusons. Be generous, the families need your support.
Gingerbread House Festival
The Gingerbread House Festival, a new event in Emery County, will be held Dec. 1-2 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Admission is free. Everyone who wants to participate should build a gingerbread house and bring it to the festival. If house aren’t your style, try a sleigh or a gingerbread man or woman. These can be done by a group, family or individual. Each creation must be 80 percent edible, and the winners of the house division will be eligible to compete at the Utah County Gingerbread House competiton. Master Clubs
Kids, ages 6-12, you are welcome to Master Club at the First Baptist Church in Ferron. It will be held every Wednesday night, beginning Sept. 13, from 7-8:30 p.m. At Master Club, you will enjoy games, songs, Bible lessons, crafts, and skills learning.
Spartan Flags
The Emery High Spartan Booster club is selling flags as a fund raiser and to show support of the student athletes. The flags may be hung up whenever there is a home game. Museum Donations
The Museum of the San Rafael is seeking funds to design, build and install full-size, life like sculptures of three dinosaurs and a mammoth. The cost is $149,000. Donations can be made to Museum of the San Rafael, P.O. Box 1088, Castle Dale.

Amplified Cordless Phone For Hard of Hearing
For Utahns living with hearing loss and limited mobility, an amplified cordless phone is now available through Relay Utah, a division of the State of Utah Public Service Commission to help meet the needs of the hard of hearing who also experience mobility limitations with wheelchair, walker or oxygen use. The amplified cordless phones are available, at no charge, to hard of hearing individuals in Utah who currently participate in the Supplemental Security Income program, Medicaid and other Department of Human Service or Public Assistance programs.
