Gerald Wilcox
ORANGEVILLE-Gerald Duane Wilcox, age 73, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away June 30, 2006 in Price surrounded by his family. He has courageously fought numerous health problems and was lovingly cared for by his dear wife Carolyn Renee.
He was born Dec. 9, 1932 in Provo to Delbert Lyman and Fern Hawkins Wilcox. He married Carolyn Renee Childs, June 26, 1950, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
As a member of the LDS Church, Gerald served in numerous callings. His love for people made him well suited for his profession in the insurance industry. He received many prestigious awards for outstanding performances in life and casualty sales. Many of these included awards at the national level.
His greatest love was for his family.
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn of Orangeville and his children and their spouses: Jerri Lynn and Clayton Cox of Helper; Carrie Jean and Dennis Jones of Orangeville; Scott Gerald Wilcox and Jeanette Bray of Ferron; and Tracy and Laura Wilcox of Castle Dale; and 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with two on the way. Also survived by sisters Barbara Graff and Betty and Von Frandsen. Preceded in death by sister Karma Dell, grandson Cody Jones and grandson-in-law Blaine Chad Pugmire.
Funeral services were held Mon. July 3, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Orangeville LDS chapel. Friends called Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial was in the Orangeville Cemetery.
Josie Lobato
SUNNYSIDE- Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Josie Trujillo Lobato, age 86, passed away peacefully July 3, 2006 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
She was born April 3, 1920 in Antonio, Colo. to Luis and Juanita Lopez Trujillo.
Married Filadelfio Lobato Sept. 24, 1939 in Fruita, Colo. He died Aug. 9, 1984.
Josie was a faithful and devoted member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she was voted woman of the year in 2000. She was very active in the womens society and was a great example for the church. She enjoyed cooking, needle work, bingo with her closest friends and gambling. Josie had a rhyme for every thought and a knee and song for every child. She loved everyone especially children. Josie was a beautiful person to be around. She was always so welcoming and giving and her sincerity always came from the bottom of her heart.
Survived by her children, Kenneth (Sandra) Lobato, East Carbon; Delores (Ray) Muniz, Payson; Cliseria (Michael) Bruce, Provo; Patsy Wilkinson, Sunnyside; Elmer Lobato, West Valley; Leland (Carol) Lobato, Sunnyside; Juanita (Thomas) Archuleta, Taylorsville; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Genevive (Efren) Sandoval, Sacramento, Calif.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband; great-granddaughter, Kirstin Wilkinson; three brothers, Nicholas Trujillo; Bernardo Trujillo; Marcus Trujillo; three sisters, Adeline Lucero; Teresa Pacheco; Shone Otero.
Funeral Mass, Fri., July 7, 2006, 10 a.m. Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service, Thursday evening 7 p.m. The family was at the church Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
John Lewis Warden
John Lewis Warden, age 71, passed away July 4, 2006 after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.
John was born on Jan. 2, 1935 in Block, Tenn. to Hugh R. and Clydia M. Warden. He had two older brothers and one older sister. The family lived in Tennessee until 1947, when they moved to Standardville, Utah. They later moved to Denver, Colo. and then to Detroit, Mich. While in Detroit, John met Bernice Salewske whom he later married.
John worked at many jobs in his life time. He worked in the auto plants in Detroit, uranium mines in Utah and New Mexico, base metals in Telluride, Colo., quicksilver in Gurneyville, Calif., digging tunnels in Milwaukee, Wis., Chicago, Ill., and Duchesne, Utah. He also drove truck all over the western states and the mid-west. In 1970 he hired on as a case worker for the Ute Indian Tribe Alcoholism Program. He went to school and began studying human behavior. John loved his job with the Ute tribe and he loved the people he worked with. He later started the Employee Help Program in Helper, Utah. He always felt the most productive time of his life was spent helping people to help themselves. The happiest times of his life were spent at Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell with his wife, children and grandchildren. John also enjoyed playing golf with his sons and with the seniors and playing guitars or just talking with his long time friend Dee Allred.
John is survived by his wife Bernice, Price, Utah; his children Michael (Tammy) Warden, Dinosaur, Colo., Jamie (Mark) Tracy, Mt. Lake Terrace, Wash., Douglas (Roslyn) Warden, Mesa, Ariz., Randy (Teresa) Warden, Jensen, Utah, Tom Warden, Helper, Utah, Jodi (Edward) Liin, Price, Utah, and Hugh Jeff Warden, Monterey Park, Calif. Grandchildren, Marci (Daryl) Terry, Vernal, Utah, Mari (Justin) Horn, Coweta, Okla., Brian (Cathy) Williams, Roosevelt, Utah, Mark (Sara) Williams, Rangely, Colo., Ryan (Monique) Thacker, Everett, Wash., Ashlee Warden, Mesa, Ariz., Brandon Warden, Michelle Warden, Vernal, Utah, Jill Horrocks, Kelsey Horrocks, Kagon Chivers, John Leo Warden, Jensen, Utah, James (Amber) Liin, Price, Utah. Great-grandchildren, Paige, Sha’Ori, Kaydon, Brooklyn, ShaeLyn, Hailey, Bradley, Hailey W., Brady, Byron, Cole, Logan, Zackery and Landon John. Many much loved nieces and nephews including special nephew Bob Noe.
He was preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Clydia Warden, brothers, Hugh W. Warden and James Warden, sister, Thelma Noe and grandson, Jason Warden.
A celebration of John’s life was held on Sat., July 8, 2006, 2 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family was at Mitchell’s Saturday one half hour prior to service.

Anton A. Kabonic
SPRING GLEN- Anton “Tony” Arthur Kabonic, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2006 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born April 1, 1928 in Latuda, Utah to Anton and Marguerite Senechal Kabonic.
Married Shirley Jean Richards, Sept. 18, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Tony was a life long resident of Carbon County where he was a retired member of the U.M.W.A. Castle Gate local 1621. He worked in various coal mines for 40 years. He served with the US army during the Korean War. Tony was an outstanding left handed pitcher for the Kenilworth Mudhens in the Carbon Coal League for many years. He was an avid outdoors man and loved animals, dancing the polka and sharing life with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Shirley Jean Kabonic, Spring Glen; children, Kayla Jean (Jeff) Skidmore, Menlo Park, Calif.; Anton Layne Kabonic; Denise Kabonic, both of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Tyler Stephen Jolley, Olympia, Wash.; Logan Yeates Skidmore and Quinn Anton Skidmore; both of Menlo Park, Calif.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Kabonic, and sister Florienne Nemanich.

Janice Marie Byars Sparks
Janice Marie Byars Sparks, 40, a resident of Carson City, Nev. for the past 15 years passed away on July 2, 2006 in San Francisco, Calif. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 411 North Saliman, Carson City, Nev. A visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial followed the service at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City, Nev.
Janice was born on April 21, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Lloyd Byars and Grace Lee (Stephens) Byars. She married Jeff Sparks on Feb. 24, 2000. Janice had previously lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and Emery, Utah. She graduated from Emery County High School, Castle Dale, Utah in 1984. She was a real estate agent for Assist-2-Sell.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Sparks; son Shane Sparks and daughter Emily Sparks all of Carson City, Nev.; mother and step-father Dee and Grace Greener of Silver City, Nev; father and step-mother John and Vickie Byars of Emery, Utah, grandmother Ruth Rands of West Jordan, Utah; sisters and brother-in-laws Christy McOmber and John of Carson City, Nev, Melanie and Kevin Young of Carson City, Nev., and Jessica Greener of Dayton, Nev.; brothers and sister-in-laws John D. and Wendy Byars of Salina, Utah, David S. Lundeen of Dallas, Texas, James and Patricia Byars of Emery, Utah and Cody Greener of Carson City, Nev., eight nieces and nephews, numerous aunts and uncles.

Cora Larie Johansen
ELMO- Johansen, Cora Larie (Oliver), 76 of Elmo, passed away Thurs., July 6, 2006 in Price. She was born Oct. 11, 1929 in Elmo, the daughter of Grant and Cora (Tucker) Oliver. She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sept. 18, 1938. She married Charles Merwin Johansen on May 22, 1946 in Elmo.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Steve) Hoke, Wilma (Richard) Snow, Kerwin (Cathy) Johansen, Larry (Celeste) Johansen, Peggy Johansen and Pete (Marie) Johansen. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; son, Lee Grant Johansen; and parents.
Graveside services were held Mon. July 10, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Elmo city cemetery. Services under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Joyce Jensen
Joyce Snow Jensen, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Fri., July 7, 2006 in Price after a long illness. She was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Rolapp, Utah to Clinton Neils and Mae Elizabeth Averett Snow. She graduated from Carbon High and attended Carbon College where she met her sweetheart, Ted J. Jensen. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on April 15, 1954.
Joyce was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as a primary teacher, secretary to the stake primary and also to the stake sresidency. For the past 10 years she served as scribe for her husband, the patriarch, typing more than 400 patriarchal blessings. Her whole life was her family. She was mother of five children, 19 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
She is survived by her faithful loving husband Ted and children and their spouses; Doug and Patricia Jensen of Beaverton, Ore.; Carol and Erroll Holt of Price; Steve and MaryAnn Jensen of West Jordan; Judy and David Taylor of Rexburg, Idaho; Nancy and Daniel Park of Alamo, Nev. Also survived by brothers and sisters; Richard Snow, Kay Snow, LaMar and Carol Snow, Frank and Kathy Snow, Betty and Irvin Olson, Delbert and Billie Jean Hansen and Verlin Black. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Basil Snow and sister Rita Miller.
Funeral services will be held Tues., July 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Price Fifth Ward LDS Chapel. Friends called Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Orangeville Cemetery.
