Seven 2001 graduates of Emery High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level AP Exams. Students take AP Exams after completing challenging college-level courses at their high school. Only about 13 percent of the more than 840,000 students in 13,680 schools who took AP Exams in May performed at a sufficiently high level to merit such recognition.
The College Board recognizes seven former Emery High seniors as AP Scholars. These students qualified for this award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of three or higher.
The AP Scholars are: Rikki-Leigh Bird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Bird of Cleveland; Sharol Durrant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claron Durrant of Huntington; Joanna Guymon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maughn Guymon of Huntington; Leslee Hodson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hodson of Ferron; Janell Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jones of Ferron; Skyler Tanner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tanner of Orangeville; and Josh White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan White of Castle Dale.
Most of the nation’s colleges and universities award credit based on successful performance on the AP Exams. The College Board is a national nonprofit association dedicated to preparing, inspiring, and connecting students to college and opportunity through the AP program.
