The Emery County Community Theater presented Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Feb. 8-12.
Cinderella was played by Holly Damron. She is a sweet and lovely young maiden who lives with her wicked stepmother played by Linda Daley and her two stepsisters were played by Tanie Worthen and Loyette Holdaway. They simply dominated Cinderella and forced her to do all the chores around the house and garden, plus wait on them hand and foot.
Jordan Sanders played the handsome and charming young prince his parents, the king and queen were played by Val Jenkins and Tricia Erickson. They want him to choose a young girl from the kingdom to marry, so the queen decides to have a ball and invite all young eligible females to attend. The prince, of course, is not very excited about the idea.
Cinderella is told by her stepmother that she will not be allowed to go with them to the ball. Cinderella’s dreams of going to the ball become a reality with the help of her Fairy Godmother played by Dolly Stephens.
Cinderella attends the ball where she sweeps the prince off his feet with her beauty and charm. At the magical hour of midnight Cinderella must leave the ball or revert back to her rags and her coach will turn back into a pumpkin. She leaves behind that magical small slipper and the prince searches high and low for the girl who will fit into the dainty slipper.
Of course the wicked step-sisters are most shocked when the slipper belongs to none other than Cinderella.
Cinderella escapes her life of dread and work to marry the prince and live happily ever after.
The Emery County Theatre has again brought world class entertainment to the stage at Emery High and the talented county residents participating have shown their many skills and talents with the production of Cinderella. The play was directed by Karen Truman.
