Authorities have released the names of the three rescuers who were killed in their attempt to locate six trapped mines in Crandall Canyon.
On Saturday the Emery County Sheriffs office identified Gary Jensen, Brandon Kimber and Dale Black.
Kimber and Black were local coal miners while Jensen was a roof control specialist for the Mining Safety and Health Administration. All three men were killed when a section of the wall exploded due to a mine bounce at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Aug. 16.
Drilling efforts continue at Crandall Canyon as the fourth hole is expected to penetrate the mine cavity late Saturday. Officials have scheduled a press conference for 7 p.m., following a briefing for the families of the trapped miners.
