Utah State Library announces spring grant awards
The Utah State Library has announced the spring 2007 Library Service and Technology Act grant awards. A total of 14 grant applications have been approved for full funding. The total grant budget (available dollars) for this round was $375,000. The total amount of all grants awarded was $269,729.
“These grants play a vital role in helping Utah libraries keep pace with technology,” says Donna Jones Morris, State Library Division Director and State Librarian. “Many Utah libraries depend on money from these grants to acquire, install and maintain equipment and to initiate and perpetuate programs.”
Mini-grants:
*Emery County Library, $7,500, wireless access.
Green River mourns loss of teenager
A motorcycle accident has claimed the life of one of Green River’s teenagers. Jace Vetere, 18, died on Sat. April 7, due to injuries sustained in the motorcycle accident on Friday.
He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
Vetere succumbed to a severe brain injury. He was reported to have been wearing a helmet and all protective gear at the time of his accident.
The Green River community mourns the loss of this popular teenager who was active in sports at Green River High. Jace was on the basketball team and the track team. He was the catcher for the Green River High baseball team. Jace was part of a large circle of friends at Green River High.
He also recently achieved his Eagle Scout and was scheduled to graduate with his senior class in May. Jace is the son of Timothy and Lu Rey Vetere.
