Jennie Olson
SPRING GLEN-Jennie Hinkins Olson, age 96, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and George Farish, in Helper on Sun. Jan. 7, 2007.
She was born April 1, 1910 in Sunnyside, Utah to Parley Jones Hinkins and Jane Catherine Jennison White. Married Willis Lee Olson Sr. on June 2, 1931 in Castle Dale, Utah, he preceded her in death on May 7, 1971.
Jennie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as Relief Society secretary. She loved the outdoors, and fly fishing Little Huntington stream was one of her favorite sports. She loved going hunting with family even though she never hunted. When her hands and eyes permitted, she was an excellent embroider making sure that each stitch was sized and placed to perfection. Jennie made many items that she gave to family and friends. She enjoyed company, especially with her family and friends, from the youngest to the oldest she just enjoyed visiting. She will be missed by those who knew her.
Surviving relatives include three sisters and one brother, Pearl Slater, Anchorage, Alaska, Dorothy (Clyde) Peterson, Spring Glen, Dora Olsen, Price, Arthur (Francis) Hinkins, Salt Lake; children, Willis Olson Jr., Delta, Colo. Robert (Darlene) Olson, Spring Glen, Colleen (George) Farish, Helper; 10 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, Parley, William, Earl, Gary; sister, Hanna May; daughter-in-law, Alice Olson; grandson, Jack Olson; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service, was held on Fri. Jan. 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Carbonville LDS Ward Chapel, located at 4000 North 2000 West in Spring Glen. Family was at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Friends were welcomed at Mitchell’s funeral home daily. Interment in the Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
Dee Henrie
PRICE-Wyler Dee Henrie, age 78, passed away Jan. 7, 2007 at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1928 in Neola, Utah to Roosevelt and Margaret Jones Henrie. He married Rosella Stormer, in Elko, Nev.; she passed away on Sept. 28, 2002. Dee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was a home teacher and caretaker at the ward buildings. He was fun loving, outgoing, and he made those around him laugh and feel like a true friend. He was a very kind, honest, and hard working person who’s word was as good as gold.
Dee honorably served his country in the US Army during Korea. He was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he was a devoted and faithful employee of City Sanitation for many years. He loved pets, helping others, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Survived by his sister, Virginia Benson, Eugene, Ore.; nieces and nephews, Ruth Henrie, Paul Dexter, Patricia McKee, Gayle Babbel, Kelly Finnegan, Kathy Vance, Karrie Beason; and a community of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, and sister Val Jean Finnegan.
Funeral service was held on Fri. Jan. 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service, Interment was in the Price City Cemetery.
Maxine Oline Price
WELLINGTON-Maxine Oline Price, 81, left this earthly existence on Jan. 8, 2007. She was born on Oct. 11, 1925, the 12th of 13 children, born to Hans Frederick Jorgensen and Olive Christine Christensen Jorgensen in the town of Emery, Utah. She married Daniel James Price on Dec. 24, 1941 in Castle Dale, Utah. Solemnized in the Manti Temple on Dec. 9, 1961. Married for 65 years.
Mom was a woman of many talents, took pride in her appearance, and took great joy in doing things to make her home beautiful. She especially loved anything to do with flowers and spent many years making floral arrangements and corsages for friends and family as well as working for Slaugh’s Floral. Mom and Dad liked to travel and took many trips in their trailer, but Mom’s favorite place to go was the old homestead outside Clawson where they began their life full of memories together. Member of the LDS Church, where she faithfully worked in Primary, M.I.A. and Relief Society organizations.
She is survived by her husband, Danny of Wellington, Utah; children Diane (Jimmy) Henrie of Wellington, Utah, grandchildren Jayme Sacco, Stacy Fincher, Shaunna Barney, Jason Henrie, and Deborah Bott James Daniel “JD” (Sherry) Price of Cedar City, Utah, grandchildren Marci Wallin, Brady Price, Brook Price, and Trenton Price; brother, Leonard Jorgensen, (100 yrs old) of Butte, Mont.: as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Frederick, Buster, Gene, Dutch, Leland, Mildred, Myrtle, Elizabeth, Lilly, Edith, Alta, and Burnetta.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Mon. Jan. 15, 2007 at the Wellington Stake Center, with a viewing one-hour prior to services. There was a viewing at Fausett Mortuary in Price Sun. Jan. 14, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. Interment was at the Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Jane Seely Stott
Our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jane Seely Stott passed away Tues., Jan. 2, 2007 at the home of her daughter Erroleen Stott Scholzen in Hurricane, Utah. Jane was 88 years old. She was born July 7, 1918 in Mt. Emmons, Duchesne, Utah to Joseph and Florence Amelia Shiner Seely. At the age of 3 the family moved to Spring Canyon, Carbon County, Utah where her father worked in the coal mines. She lived in Spring Canyon until she was 15, attending Carbon high school. The family then moved to Green River, Utah. She graduated from Green River High School while working many jobs to help herself and her family, as times were hard during the great depression. In 1937 she began working as a switchboard operator for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. In 1940 she became the contract manager, a job she loved. She held this position until 1946 when she married. Jane married Errol J. Stott Jan. 18, 1946. She and Errol were married three weeks after he returned from serving five years in the Army during World War II. They were blessed with three children Erroleen (Nick) Scholzen, Joe (Ruth Kenney) Stott, and Kathleen (Brian) Stucki.
In 1958, Jane became the city treasurer for the city of Green River serving 25 years. In 1961 she also began working as a weather observer for the U.S. Weather Bureau, a job she held for 10 years helping to send her children to college. Because of the Depression she was not able to go on to college, but was determined that her children would have that privilege.
Jane was the first board member of the Green River Library beginning in 1945. She was a member of the Green River Woman’s Club and served in many capacities in the LDS church such as primary, Young Women’s president, and Relief Society Presidency and teacher.
Jane had a beautiful singing voice and shared it many times for various events. She is survived by her three children, Erroleen, Joe, and Kathleen, brothers Bob Seely and Richard Seely. She was preceded in death by her husband Errol and grandson Danny Scholzen, her parents and siblings Vione, Beulah Bohleen, Hawley Seely and Bill Seely.
Services were held Sat., Jan. 6, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Green River LDS chapel. Friends and family called one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery under the direction of Heideman Mortuary.
Elaine Joann Colby
12/7/1942 – 1/8/2007
Elaine JoAnn Colby joined her mother and father on her father’s birthday, Jan. 8, 2007 after a heroic battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Dec. 7, 1942 to Martha Ida Sherman and Elmer Colby. She will be missed by her family and friends. Elaine was a loving aunt adored by many children. She loved oil painting, researching family history, family parties, and her new apartment. She served an LDS mission in Atlanta, Ga. She is survived by her brother Gary (Debbie) Colby, sister LaVee Pierce, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother, father, and sister Arlene Mires. A special thanks to Love Hospice (thanks Tammy and Rose). Albert “Obbie” Passic
1921-2007
PRICE- Albert Passic, age 85, passed away in the comfort of the VA Hospital in Salem, Va. on Jan. 11, 2007.
Born April 10, 1921 in Scofield, Utah to John and Ursula Loncarich Passic.
Married Lois Hazel Gilligan, on June 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1963. Lois passed away on March 9, 2000.
Obbie was a graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1939, where he participated and lettered in many sports. He played on the 1938 State Championship football team and was elected All-State second team. In 1941, he was drafted into the US Army where he served four years in the Pacific, Asiatic and European conflicts. Upon discharge, he entered Carbon College and played on the first Carbon College football team. After graduation he went to work for the Carbon County Sheriff’s Department where he was employed for 33 years, 25 of those years he served as Sheriff. Obbie was well known and highly respected for the way he always put Carbon County first. He loved the people and always strived to make Carbon County a better place to live, work and raise our youth. His leadership and direction helped the lives of many and his generosity will never be forgotten.
Obbie always stayed active in athletics and he won numerous championships in various different sporting events over the years. He was a 30 year member of the Utah Officials Association, elected to the C.E.U. Athletic Hall of Fame and the Utah Officials Hall of Fame. He enjoyed being in the outdoors with family and friends. Whether it was fishing with his buddies, or sharing a round of golf with his boys, and former President George Bush. Obbie always made the best of everything, even if it meant a staunch Democrat from Carbon County, golfing with a Republican President.
Obbie was very active in law enforcement and his community. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served as president of the Utah Peace Officers Association, President of Utah Sheriff’s Association, Chairman of the Utah Peace Officers Standards and Training Academy, P.O.S.T. instructor for both Utah and Wyoming, awarded Outstanding Community Service Award in 1971 by the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, and in 1987 received Man of the Year Award from the Soroptimist of Price.
Survived by his sons, Gregory A. (Carolyn) Passic, Clifton, Va.; Jon T. (Janice) Passic, Christiansburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Shauna Williams, Jyl Robinson, Lindsey Larsen, Kai and Laura Passic; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Cosette Williams.
Preceded in death by parents, wife, four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service, Wed., Jan. 17, 1 p.m., Price Fifth LDS Ward Chapel. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price, Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Ann Pero
HELPER- Antonette Marasco Pero, age 84, died Jan. 13, 2007 in Provo, Utah.
She was born Sept. 26, 1922 in Spring Glen, Utah to Ross and Rosa Pinarelli Marasco.
Ann worked as a waitress and bank teller in the Helper-Price area where she made many wonderful friends. She loved to knit and crochet for her family. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and traveling with all of them in the motor home. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper all her life.
Survived by two sons, Robert (Dorine) Pero, Dominic (Pam) Pero, both of Spring Glen; grandchildren, Jeremy (Danielle) Pero, Sandy; Kevin (Mariann) Pero, Syracuse; Jamie Pero and her friend Justin Parker, Pleasanton, Calif.; Kelly Pero and her fiance Jesse Valdez, Price; Jeff (Melissa) Pero, Herriman; Jordan Pero, Salt Lake City; brother, John (Joy) Marasco, Spring Glen; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Makaian, Hunter and Ethan; and her loving sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband Pete of 44 years, parents, and brother, Tony.
She will forever remain devoted to her sister-in-law and friend, Amelia Pero who will deeply miss their Thursday outings to town.
