Two Emery County communities will hold municipal primary elections on Sept. 11. In Green River there are three City Council seats up for election. The term is four years. Candidates who have filed for election are as follows:
Elaine Antinarelli, Keith Brady, Pat Brady, Dan Harrison, Glen Dale Johnson, Lucas R. Shorts and Karen Silliman.Early voting ballots will be available by Aug. 28, at Green River City Hall, 460 East Main Street. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. In order to vote in this municipal election, a voter must be registered within the municipality. The primary election will eliminate one of the candidates for city council. The remaining six will go onto the general election on Nov. 6.
In Huntington, for a two year mayor term the candidates are Sharon Kay Baker Earl, Hilary Gordon, Cade Jones, Bob T. Mills and Ronald G. Zufelt. For city council members those running are Gary Arrington, Jim Gordon, Michael K. Hurdsman, Julie Jones, Travis Larsen, Jerry Livingston and Norman Richardson.
Early voting began on Aug. 28 and will run through Sept. 7. City hall office hours in Huntington are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On Sept. 11 the voting polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. In the mayoral race the candidates will be eliminated from five to two. In the council positions there are three open positions. The seven candidates will be narrowed down to six candidates to appear on the Nov. 6 final ballot.
