U.S.D.A. Website for Those Needing Hay


USDA has developed an internet website for producers of livestock that “need/have” hay, haying or grazing available. The website is located at www.fsa.usda.gov and has a quick link titled FSA HayNet. This is available to assist livestock producers in finding needed hay or grazing.

Tuacahn Prepares for Return of “Utah”


The anticipated return of the musical “UTAH!” is coming this fall to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre. This show is the story of Jacob Hamblin and his struggle to make peace with the Paiutes.
“UTAH” will be presented in the Tuacahn Amphitheatre Monday through Saturday from Sept. 12 to Oct. 22. Show time is 7:30 p.m. A chuckwagon cookout is offered before the show beginning at 6 p.m.

Picture Day At Castle Dale Elementary


Castle Dale Elementary will have its annual picture day on Sept. 11. Students will have their pictures taken during the school day. Parents that would like to have pictures of pre-school children can bring them to school from 1-1:30 p.m.

Cub Scout Roundtable


Reminder: the Buckhorn District will have Cub Scout Roundtable the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stakehouse. All leaders are invited to attend Sept. 12

Huntington Camp D.U.P.


The Huntington Camp D.U.P. will hold a meeting on Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Huntington Senior Citizens Center.

Congressman Cannon


Congressman Cannon will host an Emery County Town Hall meeting on Sept. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Huntington City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting is open to all Third Congressional District residents. The Congressman welcomes all discussion on any facet of the federal government and current issues, including the proposed national monument in the San Rafael Swell.

San Rafael Monument Issue Meeting


The Emery County Farm Bureau will host a public meeting to discuss the good things and the bad things about placing the San Rafael Swell into a National Monument status. There will be guest speakers and question/answer time. This meeting will be held on Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Emery County Court House Commission Chambers. Everyone welcome.

Old Testament Illustrations will be on display at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery on the Southern Utah State University campus Sept. 13 to Oct. 11. Admission is free and the gallery hours are Noon -7 p.m.

Strawberry Wildlife Festival


The public is welcome to celebrate the abundant wildlife of the Strawberry Valley from Sept. 13-15 at the Second Annual Strawberry Valley Wildlife Festival at Daniels summit lodge. The festival begins at noon on Sept. 13 and at 9 a.m on Sept. 14 and 15. Activities end at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Green River Melon Days


Green River will host their 22nd annual men’s slow pitch softball tournament on Sept. 20-22. This year we would also like to see the Coed tournament brought back to Melon Days weekend. So if you have a team and are interested in having some fun, pack up the family, load up the car, and join us for an exciting weekend of ballgames, great food, entertainment in the park, and don’t forget all the free melon you can eat. Huntington North Public Workshop


The Huntington North Reservoir Resource Management Plan Project Team announces the next open house style Public Workshop on Sept. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Huntington Community Center, 40 North Main Street. The workshop is designed to solicit comments and suggestions from the public concerning the preliminary alternatives we have developed for the RMP. The public is welcome to attend and comments are encouraged.

Republican Dinner


The Emery County Republican Fall Dinner and Social will be held Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.at the Emery County Recreation Center in Castle Dale. There will be a program and door prizes. Campout for Women at Scofield


Women can learn the basics of map reading and using a compass to navigate the backcountry by attending a Map and Compass Camp-out that will be held Sept. 20-21. Veteran, Dependents, Widows


A service officer from the American Legion will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for VA benefits, including compensation, pension, hospitalization, education and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be a member of the American Legion to recieve assistance. The Service Officer will be at the Department of Workforce Services Price Employment Center, 475 West Price River Drive, Suite 256 on Wed. Sept. 11 from 9-10:30 a.m.

Grant Writing Class


Utah State University is offering a Grant Writing Class for the fall semester. Classes will be held on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the CEU campus, room CBB 103, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a cost for the class and course materials.
