On Aug. 17, the Green River Community Center hosted a back to school party for the children of Green River. The center gave the children tablets, pencils, markers, and many other items they would need for school. A spokesman from the center reported that the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice has awarded the center a grant for their second year of operation. The center provides activities throughout the week for the entire community. Some of the activities available are: Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. is Girl Scouts, at 6:30 p.m.is ladies horseback riding; Wednesdays at 4 p.m. the National Association for Persons with Mental Illness sponsors “Bridges,” and at 6 p.m. is the 4-H Horse Club for children. Once a month, with the next meeting to be Sept. 9, the Utah Humanities Council comes for Book Club.
