Traffic stop near Green River sends illegals home

By By

The Emery County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a traffic stop on SR 24, Hanksville road, which resulted in 14 illegal aliens being detained. Deputy Jarod Curtis stopped the mini-van for speeding. The driver of the vehicle did not have a valid drivers license and passengers couldn’t produce identification which could be verified.
The Immigration and Naturalization Services were contacted. They advised they would pick-up all the subjects involved. The 14 illegal aliens were transported to Green River where they were picked up by INS.
Wards took care of towing the mini-van. Two other officers came and assisted Deputy Curtis in transporting the people into Green River. The people in the van didn’t speak English and it is not known where they were from or where they were headed.
