A massive influx of online readers caused some access difficulties with the Emery County Progress website on August 12. A number of readers experienced slow load times and a few found the website temporarily unavailable.
Detailed statistics later revealed that an unprecedented number of readers were trying to view the website simultaneously during most of the day. The severe amount of traffic resulted in what some might describe as a digital traffic jam.
The event appears to coincide with an ongoing trend that began on June 24 when the Emery County Progress launched a brand new website. Since that debut, the number of visits to the website have skyrocketed to record levels.
The Emery County Progress is currently working with it’s Internet service provider to accommodate the increased Internet traffic and prevent future congestion problems.
