Huntington City
Huntington City secondary water schedule. There will be no watering from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Even numbered houses and lots will water Monday and Thursday. Odd numbered houses and lots will water Tuesday and Friday. Churches, schools, mobile home parks, cemetery, ball fields and city park will water Wednesday and Saturday. Absolutely no watering on Sunday. Anyone not following the water schedule or wasting water will be subjected to penalties. 1st offense-warning, 2nd offense-citation, 3rd offense-loss of secondary water for season.
Summer Swimming Pool Hours
Castle Dale City swimming pool summer schedule will go as follows.Aquasize: Mon., Wed., Fri. 5:30-6:30 a.m., Mon.-Fri. 7:30-8:30 a.m.; Laps: Mon., Wed., Fri. 6:30-7:30 a.m., Tues. and Thurs. 5:30- 7:30 a.m.; Family Night: Mon. 7-9 p.m.; Open Swim: Mon.-Sat. 12- 7 p.m. For more information call the pool at 381-5298. The pool will be closed on July 4 and 24.
Recreation Center Summer Hours
Emery County Recreation will be opening up the Recreation Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each week during the summer. This will be open to children from Elementary to Jr. High School age beginning on June 4. Ping pong, Basketball, foosball, darts and board games will be available for children’s use. Summer School
If your child has failed the following classes, they may want to consider summer school: career guidance, writing, health, novels, American Government and Law, modern civilization, U.S. Studies, biology, applied math, algebra 1 and geometry. They can receive school credit for these classes. The cost will be $100 for as many classes as you want to take. For more information contact, Tom Hansen at 653-2410.
Ferron Memory Afghan
Old Mill Camp is selling Ferron Memory Afghans. For a limited time, through July 4 they are available at a reduced rate. They are selling these afghans to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the settlement of Ferron. They contain historical images as well as current Ferron sites. These afghans make wonderful gifts. Story Time
The Summer Reading Program will be from 11-11:30 a.m. on the following times and story time subjects. June 18, Olympics; June 25, baseball; July 2, magic; July 9, friendship; July 16, different and alike; July 23, we’re all winners; and July 30, awards ceremony.
Also, they will have a reading foot race. Each hour that you read or have been read too, put your name on a foot track. We’ll make tracks all around the library by racing the boys by the girls.
Volunteers for Utah Arts Festival
The 26th annual Utah Arts Festival is looking for approximately 1,000 volunteers to assist with this year’s celebration. It will be held in downtown Salt Lake City on June 20-23 at the Gallivant Plaza and on 300 South. Adopt-A-Horse
The Bureau of Land Management will be offering approximately 30 mares and stallions (aged 1-5), 40 yearlings and 12 mares and foal pairs from the Wilson Creek Herd Management Area in Nevada. There will be a variety of colors to choose from: sorrels, bays, blacks along with several palominos, roans and greys. The horses will be adopted on a first come, first serve basis. The adoption will be held at the Delta Wild Horse Corrals in Delta on June 21-22 from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. For more information or appointment call 435-979-3616 between 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Miss Cleveland
The Miss Cleveland Pageant will be held on June 22 at 6 p.m. in the Cleveland Town Hall. There will be entertainment and a lot of talent by the participants.
Miss Elmo
The Miss Elmo pageant will be held this year on June 28 at Canyon View Junior High at 7 p.m.
Habitat For Humanity
Habitat for Humanity will be having a work day on June 22 at 9 a.m. at our building lot located in the Valley View Subdivision at 315 Orange Court in Castle Dale. Bring you shovels and gloves and lots of your energy. Your help will be of great worth to our organization. Basketball Camp
Spartan Basketball Camp will be held on June 24-27. There will be a registration fee. There will be games, prizes, fun, fundamentals of shooting and ball-handling. These are the times for next years grades; 8-11 a.m., 9-10 graders; 11-1:30 p.m., 6-8 graders; and 2-4:30 p.m., 3-5 graders. Register on June 24,15 minutes before your group is scheduled to start. Blood Drive
Emery Telcom will be sponsoring a blood drive on June 28. Blood donations will be taken, by appointment only, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the business office located at 455 East Highway 29 in Orangeville. To set up an appointment, please contact Sue at 435-748-2223.
Quail Unlimited
Castle Valley Chapter Quail Unlimited will be holding a dinner and auction on June 29 at the Museum of the San Rafael. Social hour will be held at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the dinner and auction. Benefit for Rocky Olsen
The second annual golf tournament sponsored by the Huntington Utah’s Lions Club will be donated to Rocky Olsen who has leukemia. This two person scramble will have a registeration fee, it will include green fee, cart and a meal. Prizes for be awarded to those participating and the other will be posted and raffled. The event will be held at the Millite Golf Course in Ferron on June 22 at 9 a.m. To register call the pro shop at 384-2887. Brunch at Castle Dale

D.R.O.P.S.
Distribution and Redistribution of Produce Surplus (D.R.O.P.S.) will be in the parking lot of Desert Edge Christian Church, 500 South Main in Huntington, on June 25. Sign-up begins at 11 a.m. They are not responsible for late truck deliveries nor the quality/quantity of the food offered. You must be present to pick up a box and there is no place saving in line. The D.R.O.P.S. program is available to everyone on a first come, first serve basis. They ask that you do not block private driveways. Sponsored by Emery County Community Services.
Miss Legacy Rodeo Queen Pageant
The Davis County Fair Park, located in Farmington is holding the 2002 Miss Legacy Rodeo Queen Pageant on June 28. Young ladies from across Utah are invited to compete in this competition. The public is invited to attend to cheer on their favorite contestant. The competition includes speeches, modeling and horsemanship. The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with the awards ceremony at 5 p.m. This year the competition will be judged by a completely new panel of judges that includes past rodeo queens from different parts of the state. Desert Trek
Emery County Historical Society is holding another Desert Trek on June 22 to the Black Dragon where we will see the rock art and also view and learn about the summer solstice. Bring your pot luck dish to add to the weiner roast supper, your drinks, lawn chairs, and jackets and meet at either the John Wesley Powell River History museum in Green River at 2:30 p.m. or at the Hanksville Junction on the North side of I-70 at 4 p.m. sharp. Western Paint Out
Come and paint the beautiful San Rafael Swell, the scenic Manti-LaSal or anything in between. Not a contest, just a chance to show and sell your work. The county will purchase their favorites. Check in and registration is July 25 from 3-7 p.m. at the Emery County Fair Park. Paint Friday and Saturday anywhere in Emery County. ATV Course
Utah’s Off-Highway Vehicle Education Program is gearing up for the July 4th Celebration. There will be a course on June 26 at 7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. There will be a charge for the class. The course will teach people from 8 and up to ride ATV’s legally and safely. To legally ride on public lands kids 8-16 years old are required to pass the course. Pre-registration is mandatory. You can sign up for the course, pick up your test study booklet and pay your fee at the Emery County Recreation Center Office, 75 South 400 East (near the rodeo grounds) in Castle Dale. Free Senior Citizens Dinner
All Emery County seniors are being treated to a free dinner at the Emery County Recreation Center in Castle Dale on Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m. There will be dinner and entertainment.
