Election Day 2008: Voters go to the polls to decide fate of candidates

The 2008 Election season is drawing to a close as voters will go to the polls on Nov. 4 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting was held in the county from Oct. 21-31. The early voters in Emery County voted in the county building at the Clerk’s office.
Emery County has 6,431 active voters and of those voters 9 percent voted early for a total of 605 early voters.
In Emery County one commissioner seat will be filled. Candidates for that seat include incumbent Drew Sitterud, Republican; Laurie Pitchforth, Democrat and write-in candidate Steve Kemple.
School board races include: Laurel Johansen v. Mike McCandless in Castle Dale; Write in-incumbent candidate Rue Ware and Nanette Hinkins in Orangeville; incumbent Sam Singleton v. Janeal Dugmore in the Ferron race.
Emery County resident David Hinkins is in the race for the state senate vying against Brad King.
