Whatever happened to global warming? I have really missed it lately. Actually I started missing it about last September. We always go on a camping trip in Huntington Canyon for the muzzleloader deer hunt. It’s always a very pleasant time in the mountains the fall colors are usually gorgeous and it never seems to matter if you get a deer or not it’s just great to be there. But, this hunt was very different. The first day was very cold and blowing. The next day we were hunting in deep snow. We even wimped out and came home (back to town) that night and cranked up the furnace and just went back the next day and packed up camp and headed home. There were several inches of snow at the top of Huntington Canyon. It seems like from then on it hasn’t ended.
It may have been a pleasant fall after that initial shock and cold but I was so traumatized I didn’t notice. It seems like we’ve had quite a bad winter and it hasn’t ended yet.
We take a golfing trip each spring to St. George and Mesquite and it’s usually very warm down there and even kinda hot to these people who have been scarred by winter. This year it was very pleasant, but not warm and certainly not hot. Usually St. George by this time of year, is hot. Last June, we went to a wedding down there and it was 110 degrees in the shade. Not a good time to stand outside for wedding pictures. Anyway, now I miss that, I wish my ice cream cone would disintegrate before my eyes when I walk outside. We did that once, back when we weren’t as smart as we are now. Left a store and before we could run to the car and get inside and start the air conditioner the ice cream had turned to liquid right before our very eyes. I was slurping as fast as I could. We did get a good chuckle out of the deal. Don’t leave the restaurant with your ice cream when it’s 110 degrees. I can’t resist a bargain and since the cones were only 10 cents each, (on sale) I had to have one.
Anyway I wish it would warm up. I guess I’m getting old, I just can’t take the cold anymore. Maybe it just hung around for so many months and in a few short months it will all be back again. I don’t know.
There were ball games last night the Carbon v. Emery baseball match-up and I thought I was going to die. Those little ball players were so cold when they came in to bat they looked frozen and were shivering and jumping around and stealing jackets from each other trying to get warm.
It’s hard to get pictures from inside your car back by the fence so I braved the weather. The cheese fell off my cracker years ago and not being very smart, I stayed and watched these games and took pictures and the whole time, I just looked at those power plants and wondered why they aren’t giving off any heat. After last night I am all for global warming and if I ever thaw out again, I just might write Al Gore a letter.
