Castle Dale Elementary PTA and Castle Dale Youth City Council Book Drive


Bring your “gently” used books to Castle Dale Elementary from now through April 30, and they will be donated to a local charity. Deposit them in the box located in the front hallway, or you can exchange your “gently” used books from 3-5 p.m. on April 30 at the school during the Read-a-Thon. You can exchange one book for one book, two books for two books, etc.

Castle Dale Stake Relief Society Enrichment Meeting


“Womanhood-Enjoy to the End” Enrichment Meeting dinner and program will be held April 24 at 6 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. Young Woman Laurels are also welcome.

Emery Democratic Convention


The Emery Democratic Convention will be held at the Museum of the SanRafael on April 17 at 6 p.m. with delegate registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served with a small donation requested.

Power Wheelchairs Available


The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available Power Wheelchairs to Senior Citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self propel a manual wheelchair and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. If the patient’s need is for use in the home, call for more information to see if they qualify. Call toll free 1-800-246-6010.

Anthropology 2520 Class


CEU Archaeological Field School will be held this July 14 to Aug. 1 in Range Creek Utah. Cost for the class is tuition for three credit hours plus $270 fee. Class instructor will be K. Renee Barlow Ph.D. For more information call 435-613-5290,

Cinco de’Mayo Celebration


Come join the Cinco de’Mayo celebration will be held on May 10 at the East Carbon Viking park, in East Carbon. A lot of games, a lot of good food, and a lot of entertainment. Most of all, a lot of fun.

Non-denominational Bible Talk

Usu Regional Campuses And Distance Education Commencements Scheduled


Utah State University Regional Campuses and Distance Education spring commencement exercises have been scheduled at regional campuses and education centers throughout Utah. Commencement for the Price Education Center will be held April 23 at 6 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the College of Eastern Utah campus, 510 North 300 East. The keynote speaker will be Steve Burge, Carbon County commissioner.

Festive Fridays Date Change


Festive Fridays, sponsored by Utah State University Extension will be held, April 18-Lotions and Potions, which will require an added $15 for the kit, also many Mother’s Day ideas; and May 9-Family Reunions and Picnics. Note, the May date is a change from May 2. All classes begin at noon upstairs in the courthouse on Main Street in Castle Dale. RSVP to the extension office at 381-2381. Each class will cost $2 for lunch and handouts. Lots of ideas for spring and summer fun.

Mounteer To Celebrate the release of Franky Frankinstain


June 18 from 2-4 p.m. at The Star Grill and Fun Center in Huntington. There will be free popcorn and the Star Grill will have a special for the children. J.B. is the author and illustrator of Camp Were Wolf. If you have a copy, bring it in and get it autographed. The Star Grill will have copies of both Camp Were Wolf and Franky Frankinstain. The official release date of Franky Frankinstain is June 17.

Cleveland Days Planning Meeting


A planning meeting for the Cleveland Days celebration will be held at 6 p.m. April 17 at the town office. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring your ideas. Any questions, call the town office at 653-2310.

Cleveland Town Meeting Change


The April Cleveland Town Council meeting has been changed from April 10 to April 17. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the town office. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Cleveland Clean-up Contest


Turn that mess in your yard into cash in your pocket. Just take a picture of your mess located within town limits and turn it into the town office by April 17. Then do your clean up and remodel. Turn in a final picture to the town office by Sept. 1. Entries will be judged by the town council. Winners will be announced at the September town council meeting. Help us turn Cleveland into the prettiest little town in Utah. First prize-$300; second prize-$200; and third prize-$100. The contest will be based on who does the biggest improvement, not the fanciest finished product. Contest not open to city employees or elected officials.

Emery All-star Cheerleading


Emery All-star Cheerleading Elite competition team tryouts will be held May 13, 14, 16, 17 at LaRae’s Dance Studio. This is for ages 10-18. If you are not able to attend, you may schedule a private audition. Register and receive a tryout packet, some fees are due upon making the team. No auditions necessary for regular cheer classes ages 4-14. For more information contact Becky at 749-1582 or 687-2632.

Free Diabetes Education Class


A free four week educational class for anyone interested in Diabetes education. Classes will be taught May 8, 15, 22, 29 from 10 a.m.-noon at Active Re-Entry, 10 South Fairgrounds Road in Price. To register call Darlene at 637-4950. Class will be taught by Ellen Serfustini and will contain cooking and educationazl tips for those with Diabetes.

ATV Permit Class


An ATV permit class will be held April 16 at the old Courthouse building beginning at 7 p.m. for ages 8-16 to be legal to drive on public lands. You must pre-register at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 499 East, Castle Dale, by April 14. Huntington Lions Yard Sale


The Huntington Lions yard sale is the April 26 at the Huntington City Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The old City Hall will be open Friday night if you want to bring things for the yard sale. The Hall will be open from 5-7 p.m. Remember when you’re cleaning, think of the Relay for Life and the love ones that have had cancer and the ones we lost. See you at the yard sale.

OHV Poker Ride in Price


The Castle Country OHV Association and Castleview Hospital will host the second annual Relay for Life, Town and Country poker ride on May 3. Registration is from 9-10 a.m. at the County Recreation building parking lot, 393 Fairgrounds Road. An OHV training class will be held for children 8-16 at 9 .am. with pre-registration due by April 25. Call 1-800-OHV-RIDE to pre-register. A dinner fund raiser will be held following the ride at the Fairgrounds building at 3 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Motorcycles and side-by-sides welcome.

3-D Archery Shoot


A 3-D archery shoot, sponsored by the Buckhorn Archers, will be held at Bear Creek Campground on April 26. Sign-ups begin at 10 a.m with warm ups at 9 a.m. Everyone who shoots will be entered into a drawing for a Bear Done Deal bow.
