Editor,
Coverage of the Republican convention revealed the astonishing lack of diversity among GOP delegates. As the cameras swept over the crowd, we rarely caught a glimpse of anyone of color. It’s as if the Republicans have given up even the pretense of the “big tent” they claimed to represent in recent years.
The contrast with the Democratic convention, where every shot of the attendees captured the full spectrum of America’s rich heritage, is striking. It conveyed a much more powerful message about true inclusiveness and representation than any speaker at the podium.
White, conservative Republicans are locked into the past while Democrats are seeking true change and a new direction compatible with the diversity of an ever-evolving America.
