Wayne Christiansen, 85, passed away of causes incident to age the afternoon of Nov. 25, 2008. Wayne was born to Joseph Andrew and Mary Johannah Allred Peacock Christiansen on Oct. 5, 1923 in Emery, Utah. He was the youngest son of 11 children.
Wayne has a sense of humor, wonderful memory, caring disposition, and in his younger years excelled in sports and has held records in track and field. In World War II he served as a Radio Operator in California, Hawaii, and Guam.
He married Colleen Strong Sept. 23, 1949 and settled in American Fork. He worked at Geneva Steel until his retirement in 1983. Wayne and Colleen had three children Cole, Claudia (died in 1958), and Mark.
Wayne was actively involved with the community especially when it came to sports and recreation. Wayne was always generous with his time, talents, and money. He was honored to have a baseball field named after him in the Art Dye Ballpark Complex.
Wayne and Colleen enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, family reunions, and going to all the big shows in Las Vegas, especially the Rat Pack. Colleen died in 1994. He was plagued with many health problems in the last 20 years of his life.
In 1997 Wayne married Audrey Sagers who brought him much happiness. She died in 2001. Later he was lucky to have Norma Hansen and her family as a part of his life.
He is survived by two sons Cole (Janet), Mark (Lorie), nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is also survived by his step-daughter Lynn Rae (Bill) and her family.
Funeral Services were held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork Third Ward, 350 West 165 North A visitation was held Sunday Nov. 30, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North and Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
