Bevan Wilson sits on the Utah Department of Transportation commission. He is a Huntington resident and former Emery County Commissioner. Wilson has been able to help direct needed funding to Emery County for road projects.
Wilson is concerned at this time about UDOT projects which have currently been placed on hold due to a projected short fall in the Utah General Fund. The projects are funded with the General Fund.
Wilson believes the projects will be done, just not as soon as the county would like them to be. Any projects which are currently underway which includes work on SR-6 at the White River Bridge are currently under construction and this construction will continue until completion.
Carbon and Emery County projects and SR-6 projects on hold with cost of project will include: US-6 from MP 274 to Woodside-$2 million; milepost 218.7 to Emma Park Road-$15 million; SR-10 south of Emery to Muddy Creek Bridge-$12.5 million; SR-10 Quitchupah Hill climbing lane-$2.5 million; SR-10 Horseshoe Dugway to Carbon County Line-$15 million; SR-10 Ridge Road to South Price $5 million; US 6-MP 266.50 to 267.90-$6 million.
It is not currently known how long the projects will be on hold, but more information will be available when the legislative session begins.
A federal funding stimulus package may also come to the rescue if passed by Congress.
