Lenna Healy
PRICE – Lenna V. Oliver Hamilton Healy, age 86, passed away peacefully June 4, 2002.
She was born Feb. 4, 1916 in Elmo to Jobe and Margaret Petty Oliver. Married Archie Lavar Hamilton. He died May 30, 1949. Married Homer Healy. He died July 9, 1983.
She is survived by her sons, Archie (Melanie) Hamilton, Price; Scott (Vicki) Healy, Salt Lake City; John (Jolene) Healy, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Rela (Jim) Sherman, Huntington; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Lenna was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Carollyn Dayes.
Funeral service was held on Friday, June 7, Mitchell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Carbon County Humane Society, 1419 West Valley View Drive, Wellington, UT 84542.
Charles Hoffman
EAST CARBON – Charles Edward Hoffman, age 67, died June 7, 2002 at his home in East Carbon.
Born July 8, 1934 in Madison, Ill., to John and Josephine Westfall Hoffman.
Longtime resident of East Carbon, where he worked for the Carbon County School District in East Carbon for 16 years. Served in the U.S. Marine Corp during Korea. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, and he loved to travel.
Survived by three brothers, Robert and Lucy Hoffman, Granite City, Ill.; John and Laura Hoffman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; William Hoffman, Edwardsville, Ill.; two sisters, Barbara and John Zeman, Streator, Ill.; and Alberta Rhymer, Madison, Ill. Preceded in death by parents; three sisters, Virginia, Carol and Ethel.
Funeral service Wednesday, June 12, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
R. Lamar Kummer
CLEVELAND – age 71, passed away June 8, 2002 in Price.
He was born Dec. 26, 1930 in Park City to Ralph K. Kummer and Beatrice Sweeney. He married Dorothy Robinson, had five children, later divorced. Married Wilma Waddell July 6, 1972.
He retired from Utah Power Aug. 1, 1990. He was a lover of the outdoors, avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. He dearly loved “The Kummer Cabin.”
He is survived by loving wife, Wilma; daughters, Connie (Rick) Ward; stepdaughter, Nancy Vance; sons, Dave (Lisa) Kummer, Bob (Pat) Kummer, Larry (Maralyn) Kummer, Gary (Cindy) Kummer; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen F. Kummer and Duane (Jan) Kummer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; and nephew, Jeff Kummer
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 12, 12:30 p.m., Cleveland LDS 2nd Ward, 355 W. 100 North. Friends may call two hours prior to service. Burial, Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
D’Artagnan Martinez
CARBONVILLE – On May 22, 2002, our Lord blessed us with a little angel, D’Artagnan Braden Martinez and in the early morning hours of June 7, 2002 he called our angel home.
D’Artagnan Braden Martinez was born in Price to Billy Martinez, Jr. and Catherine Bernstein.
He is survived by mother and father; sister, Kambrie Joy Franz Martinez; grandparents, Bill and Susan Martinez, all of Carbonville; Brad Bernstein, Las Vegas, Nev.; Lori Bernstein, Carbonville; great-grandparents, John and Theda Rose Cole, Carbonville; Leon and Sue Pilling, Wellington; Franciso Martinez, Salt Lake City; Dale and Margaret Christensen, Price; Sharon Bernstein, Las Vegas; aunts and uncles, Melissa and Mark Hultgren, Salt Lake City; Haley and Daniel Martinez, Carbonville; Sara Bernstein, Carbonville; Korie K. Frantz, Carbonville; and cousin, Kyle Hultgren. Preceded in death by great-grandmother, Rosalie Martinez; great-grandfather, Herb Bernstein; great-aunts, Catherine and Denise.

Frank Breznick, Jr.
SALT LAKE CITY- Frank Breznick Jr. died June 7, 2002 at his home after a long illness.
Born Aug 18, 1922 in Cameron, Colo. to Frank and Marv Erman Breznick. Frank grew up in Carbon County, living first in Kenilworth and then in Helper where his father built their family home.
Frank graduated from Carbon High School in Price. Following graduation, Frank worked in the coal mines for a couple of years before joining the Army in 1942 upon the advent of World War II. He served in the Quartermaster Corps and was stationed in the South Pacific, primarily in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. Frank was awarded the Bronze Star, Medal of Honor, Asiatic Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal.
After returning from the war, Frank married Anna Smolich Dec. 9, 1947 and further pursued his education in electrical engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin. After the birth of their daughter Terry Ann, Frank and Anna moved back to Utah where daughter, Carol Nina, was born. Frank became employed as an electrician achieving the level of Master Electrician, Throughout his working years, Frank was a proud and dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 354. He was a lifetime member of Provo Elks Lodge 849. Frank was an outspoken defender of his country’s working men and women, as well as the brotherhood of mankind.
Frank was happiest in the home that he and Anna recently built in Salt Lake City. An avid hunter and fisherman, Frank was always appreciative of the glories of nature and the opportunity to experience the outdoors with friends and family. He loved his family more than anything.
Frank was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Mary Breznick Owens. He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughters, Terry Breznick Rampton, Carol Nina Breznick; son-in-law, Anthony L. Rampton, granddaughters, Dominique (Paul Rudof), Hadley and Sloane Rampton; brother, Albert Breznick; and sister, Edith Braznick Litizzette.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to those doctors and nurses who showed such care and kindness to Frank, particularly Dr. Michael Lincoln at the VA Hospital.
Memorial Mass, Wednesday June 12, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil Service, Tues. 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will be at St. Anthony’s Tuesday., and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. Estella Jenkins
CENTERFIELD – Estella Funk Jenkins, age 89, died June 8, 2002 at her home in Centerfield.
She was born February 19, 1913 in Ferron, a daughter of Ezra K. and Ester Henrietta Anderson Funk. She married Clyde E. Jenkins, April 9, 1931 in Ferron. He preceded her in death, April 7, 1989.
Estella lived in Emery County for many years. Clyde sold the family farm and they moved to Salt Lake City in 1966. She lived there until 1994 when she moved to Centerfield where she lived until her death. In her younger years, Estella enjoyed riding horses, camping, fishing and dancing. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting things for her family. She was an instigator in getting her family together for reunions. She loved her granddaughters and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by one son, Edward F. and Sue Jenkins of Kearns; 11 granddaughters; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Snow; son, Jay Clyde Jenkins; grandson, Wayne Snow; great-grandson, Lynn Sanders; and all of her brothers and sisters; parents; and husband.
Funeral services were Friday, June 7, at 2:30 p.m. in the Centerfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, Viewing Friday afternoon was from 1-2 p.m. prior to the services. Burial was on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Ferron Cemetery, under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
Mike Protopappas
PRICE – Our loving son, father, brother and longtime friend, Mike Protopappas, passed away June 5, 2002 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Sept. 16, 1935 in Price, to Demosthenes E. and Mary Harakopakis Protopappas.
Member of the AssumptionGreek Orthodox Church. Mike was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. Mike and his handyman services will always be greatly appreciated by his friends. “May His Be Eternal”.
Survived by son, Mike Protopappas, California; mother, Mary Protopappas, Price; brothers, James Protopappas, Layton; Tony Protopappas, California; Kosy (Roselyn) Pappas, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a community of friends. He was preceded in death by father.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 8, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price.
Trisagion service Friday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
